On the heels of news breaking that she was let go from The Young and the Restless, actress Gina Tognoni has put out a professional and gracious statement thanking CBS and the soap she’s called home for five years.
The tweet reads: “Five years ago, I was blessed to embrace the incredible character of Phyllis Summers Abbott. I am beyond grateful for the creative experience that The Young and the Restless has given me as well the amazing relationships I made with the cast, crew/staff, producers, and writers.
“I love my Genoa City family, which made it easy to give 100% every day. My long commutes always went smoothly because I loved where I worked and the people I work with.
“My thanks to Sony Pictures Television and CBS and that special thank you to the YR viewers for their love and support. I wish YR continued success and everything it richly deserves.”
Michelle Stafford will be returning to the role of Phyllis, a character she originated 25 years ago. Stafford is leaving General Hospital and the role of Nina Cassadine behind.
Tognoni began her soap career in 1995 as Kelly Cramer on One Life to Live. She also played Dinah Marler on Guiding Light. She won an Emmy for playing Phyllis in 2017, as well as Emmys for her work on GL.
