Longtime Days of Our Lives fans may recall actor Steve Wilder, who played the role of Jack Deveraux for two years in the late 1990s. The actor now goes by a new name — Steve Wilder Streigel — and he’s the subject of controversy!

Streigler, who played DAYS’ Jack from 1997 to 1998, was cast in the film The Predator by its director, Shane Black, in the role of a jogger who makes a play for the character played by one of the film’s stars Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse).

Now, that scene is reportedly being edited out in light of the film’s studio, Twentieth Century Fox, learning that Streigel is a registered sex offender.

The Los Angeles Times has reported that in 2010, the ex-soap actor pled guilty after allegations were raise that he tried to tempt a 14-year-old girl into a physically intimate relationship over the web.

After Munn informed the studio of this, execs took steps to edit Streigel out of the film.

In a statement to the Los Angeles Times, a Fox spokesperson said that the they “were not aware of his background during the casting process due to legal limitations that impede studios from running background checks on actors.”

Black stated in the article that he made the choice to hire a friend and understands that others may not approve of his decision, adding that the conviction is something not to be taken lightly.

The Predator premiered this past week at the Toronto International Film Festival and is set to open in theaters nationwide on Friday, September 14. It stars Sterling K. Brown (This Is Us) and Munn.

“This was an enormously unfortunate chapter in my life, and one that I took, and continue to take, personal responsibility for,” Streigel has said.

“If I had even an inkling that my involvement with The Predator would be a point of difficulty for Shane Black, or cast any kind of shadow over a movie that I wish only great success for, I would, of course, never have been involved in any capacity.”
