With SORAS — Should Soap Characters REALLY Act Their Age? Can They?!

Because soap operas happen in real-time, fans often get the chance to watch their favorites go from angsty, rebellious teens (in the case of General Hospital’s Robin, we’re talking a big-eyed tween) to doting — and ridiculously young (see: Days of Our Lives’ Hope and Sami) — grandmas and grandpas.

But growing older also means growing up — hopefully. Almost 6,000 viewers told us how you feel about the transformation.

Golden Years
Nobody expects The Young and the Restless’ (YR) Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) to still be dancing around a stripper’s pole now that she’s got grandchildren old enough to catch her in the act.

It makes perfect sense that she’s moved on to being the lady of the manor, planning charity galas, and trying her best not to butt in like Victor (Eric Braeden) would. And 84% of you approve.

The same goes for the aforementioned Hope (Kristian Alfonso), who now enforces law and order, instead of seeing how far she can bend it.

Early Retirement
On the other hand, Sami (Alison Sweeney) isn’t letting being a grandma keep her from still being Sami, and 15% of the audience is cheering her on.

The Bold and the Beautiful’s (BB) Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) isn’t letting age keep her from making the same mistakes — named Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) and Bill (Don Diamont) — over and over again.

And GH’s Anna (Finola Hughes) is still the same kick-ass secret agent she debuted as 30 years ago, no matter how many grandchildren Robin (Kimberly McCullough) presents her with.

The same goes for her fellow Port Charles resident, Carly (Laura Wright), who hasn’t learned a damn thing in all the years she’s been in town. And her fans wouldn’t have it any other way.
