Some things are really, really personal. Age, weight, politics, religion… how much TV you watch! Yeah, that last one, like age and weight, people tend to round down. Not because they’re ashamed, necessarily, but they’re not exactly proud of it, either.
On the other hand, anonymity breeds honesty, as over 8,000 hardcore viewers confessed their deepest darkest TV watching secrets, soaps and beyond….
Four-Peat!
There are 24 hours in a day. So why should 53% of you be embarrassed about clocking in four hours of viewing during that time period?
It’s only one-sixth of the day! You sleep for longer than that. You work for longer than that. You deserve your kick-back-and-chill time!
Half That
Maybe back when there were over a dozen soaps on the air, you could fill four hours, no problem. But now, there just aren’t enough stories to claim your time and attention, and 23% can only manage two hours a day.
That includes daytime AND primetime.
Weekly Wonder
And then there are the 11% who can’t even find a week’s worth of shows to watch. You tune in between one and six times a week… and then tune right back out again.
Less Than
Meanwhile, another 11% are committed to less than two hours. That’s enough for a couple of sitcoms, and maybe The Bold and the Beautiful (BB), but what kind of a soap watcher is that?
Every Other Thing
Finally, we hear all about the 1%. Well, this one percent claims they watch TV all day, every day. That’s the kind of viewer advertisers want to hear about! (Though we didn’t ask if you watch broadcast, streaming, or illegal clips on YouTube.)
Weirdly, within that 1% are also a handful of folks who claim they never watch TV at all. Makes you wonder what they’re doing on a soap opera website, doesn’t it?
