E! News Takes A Look Inside Your Favorite Soaps!

The E! Network is taking a look behind the scenes daytime soap operas, including The Young and the Restless, General Hospital, and Days Of Our Lives!

In a special segment airing on E! News, viewers will get a backstage look at three daytime soaps and hear from the stars themselves as to what makes the genre so special! Eric Braeden (Victor) and Tracey Bregman (Lauren) from YR are interviewed for the report. Braeden recalls one of his character’s earliest stories in which Victor fed rats to Julia’s (Meg Bennett) lover Michael Scott (Nick Benedict). Meanwhile, Bregman offers insights into why soap fans love the characters of Genoa City.

DAYS is represented in interviews with Deidre Hall (Marlena), Drake Hogestyn (John), and Kristian Alfonso (Hope). “[T]his is the one warm, fuzzy place where the audience can come and they can see that we have fought through a lot, and there’s a lot of hope out there for a lot of people,” Hall says. Alfonso says that it’s Hope’s early days that she holds dear to her heart “and the romance of Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope.”

Meanwhile, over in Port Charles, Laura Wright (Carly), Steve Burton (Jason), and Kristina Wagner (Felicia) share insights.

Also, casting director Mark Teschner recalls Meghan Markle’s first speaking role on GH. “She worked on the show in the background as a nurse, and we brought her up to read her to see if there was something there,” Teschner says.

Watch for the segment to include classic moments from soaps over the decades including the wedding of Luke (Anthony Geary) and Laura (Genie Francis) on GH, Victor’s machinations on YR, and Marlena’s infamous possession on DAYS.

One quibble: While it’s always nice to see soaps gets some mainstream coverage, we gotta say: Hey, E! where the heck is BB?
