Top 10 Hits and Misses
10. MISS: No follow-up or follow-through…yet (B&B). Ever since Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) and Hope (Annika Noelle) ended, there has been no follow-up on Lope post-daddy/daughter dance. And for that matter, the last time we saw Carter, he was at Il Giardino with Daphne (Murielle Hilaire). Where’s that follow-up? We’re sure that these will come, but why the wait? And come to think about it, we’re still waiting to find out more about Thomas’s (Matthew Atkinson) 180 on Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Ridge (Thorsten Kaye). He hasn’t been seen again. Is he even in town still?
9. HIT: Cary Christopher as Thomas DiMera (DOOL). This kid is good, and lately, Cary Christopher has been playing some heartbreaking stuff. He had to deal with Rachel (Alice Halsey) blabbing about Cat (AnnaLynne McCord) and his father. Not only did she tell him that they were dating, she filled him in on Imposter!Cat. As a result, he’s so angry with Chad (Billy Flynn). He’s incredulous that his father would even date someone as mean as Cat. His anger has already caused Chad to break up with the woman who posed as his dead wife. Talk about drama. Christopher is bringing it!
8. MISS: The Isaiah / Curtis confrontation (GH). This moment wasn’t earned. Curtis (Donnell Turner) and Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) have had little interaction in the past. And suddenly, this doctor guy is defending Portia (Brook Kerr) to her husband. Curtis looked confused. And the thing with Isaiah and Portia is so new. This rivalry needs more time to marinate. It doesn’t have the same oomph as the Portia and Jordan (Tanisha Harper) rivalry because they have a major history that conflicts and crosses.
7. HIT: Nikki and Jill (Y&R). One minute, the conversation was pleasant — Nikki thanked Jill for selling Chancellor to Victor (Eric Braeden). And then the next minute, Nikki is going in on Jill about Cane (Billy Flynn) and the threat he poses to Genoa City and her family. Nikki got ferocious, and Jill couldn’t believe she walked into that. They were fun scenes featuring two icons, Melody Thomas Scott and Jess Walton.
6. HIT: Finn doesn’t give in to Luna. He’s all about his family (B&B). Finn’s (Tanner Novlan) reaction to an alive Luna (Lisa Yamada) was as expected. He was all about protecting Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and his family, and he struggled to comprehend how Luna was alive and pregnant with Will’s (Crew Morrow) baby. When his daughter asked him if he knew a good OBGYN, he said that he did. The one they assign her in prison. Finn’s got jokes (although he was serious).
5. HIT: Andre stands up to Bill (BTG). Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) is bothered and bewildered knowing that Dani (Karla Mosley) is married to Andre (Sean Freeman). So he tracked Andre down to Orphey Gene’s, where he confronted the photographer. Surprisingly, Andre was the one who won that battle. Bill called Andre a gigolo, and after basically calling Bill old, he said that he had his own money. He doesn’t need Dani’s money. Then Andre accused Bill of being the gigolo, since he didn’t have much when he and Dani first got married. That was a serious burn, and we were here for it.
4. MISS: Kyle decides to follow Claire to Los Angeles (Y&R). Kyle (Michael Mealor) and his year of bad decisions continue. He thinks Claire (Hayley Erin) needs protecting from Holden (Nathan Owens), so he’s taking it upon himself to follow her to Los Angeles. And, who knows, Holden isn’t the most upstanding of individuals, but Claire’s a big girl. She can figure that out for herself. Who she may need protecting from right now, however, is Kyle.
3. HIT and MISS: Jennifer and her Cat hate (DOOL). HIT: Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) has every right to hate Cat (AnnaLynne McCord) with the fire of a thousand suns. MISS: What she doesn’t have the right to do is project that hatred onto Chad on every occasion that they talk. Let her have her anger. But she needs to let Chad feel his own feelings. She may not like it, but that’s okay.
2. MISS: No funeral for Doug and no Deanna at the funeral (BTG). Doug (Jason Graham) was the show’s first big death. And while they featured scenes post-funeral, it would have been nice to see Fairmont Crest show up for the cardiologist. All these people claim to have been friends with him or attended college with him, but Doug wasn’t really connecting with anyone in his life before his death, except for Randy (Maurice P. Kerry). The show could have explored some of that guilt. Plus, where was his daughter? If you’re bringing Donnell (Alex Cheeks) back, why not Deanna?
1. HIT: Reading of the Will / Rejecting of the Search Warrant (GH). There was a lot of drama when Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) read the part about who got the house. It wasn’t a shock to the audience, but it was to the family. Monica (the late Leslie Charleson) left it to a long-lost sister whom she hadn’t seen in decades. However, Ronnie proved herself when she informed Anna (Finola Hughes) and Chase (Josh Swickard) of the correct location, as the search warrant had the address incorrect. Jane Elliot, Erika Slezak, and the rest of the cast of Quartermaines gave us fun scenes.
Favorite Couples
Most Adorable Couple: Gio & Emma, GH. Gio (Giovanni Mazza) and Emma (Braedyn Bruner) were miscommunicating all over the place, but at Volonino, they finally got their collective acts together and kissed again. They’re so adorable, there needs to be a new word for it.
Hottest Couple: Dani and Andre, BTG. They’re having fun with their unconventional marriage, and somehow their relationship feels healthy at the same time. Plus, they can’t get enough of each other. He goes and gets her food. She says to take the Maserati. They strive to be as honest with each other as possible. They handle everybody’s criticisms about their impromptu wedding like a boss. And their chemistry is scorching hot.
Totally On Our Radar: Theo and Ari, DOOL. Theo (Tyler Joseph Andrews) and Ari (Marissa Reyes) have just met, and that one meeting is already making us want to see more. Let’s hope the show follows up on what could become something special.
Cutest Couple Moment: Xander and Sarah, DOOL. Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) tells Xander (Paul Telfer) to knock ’em dead as he goes off to the Kiriakis versus Tony DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) meeting. Then she has to clarify her words and says, “But not literally.” Because she knows her husband has the ability to actually knock someone dead, or almost dead. Just ask Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier). Xander, who’s off-screen, yells back and says, “Okaaaaaay.” So cute.
Honorable Mentions
B&B
HIT: Bridget’s out of the hospital! Lately, it seems that whenever we see Bridget (Ashley Jones), it’s only in hospital mode. Does she live there? Does she have her own home? Thankfully, this week, we’d like to report that she was at Ridge and Brooke’s and then at Bill’s (Don Diamont) mansion to administer the home paternity test. So, she does leave the hospital sometimes.
BTG
MISS: Judgy Jacob. The only BTG character that is more judgmental than Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) is Jacob (Jibre Hordges). The way the detective went in on the photographer had us wondering what was behind his dislike of Andre. Is it his jet-setting lifestyle? Yes, Derek (Ben Gavin) is his best friend, but he misread the whole Andre/Ashley (Jen Jacob) situation. Sort of.
DOOL
HIT: The Jennifer and Jack flashbacks. It was Melissa Reeves’ 40th anniversary on DOOL. And while the Cat anger was a lot to handle, it was great to see the Young Jennifer and the Jack and Jennifer flashbacks. They were such a fun supercouple back in their prime.
GH
MISS: ADA Turner gets the address wrong. The search warrant went bust after ADA Turner gave her minion the wrong address to the Quartermaine house. Now, did she do it by accident because she couldn’t think after staring at Sonny (Maurice Benard), or did she do it on purpose to protect him indirectly (it would help protect his son, which would be good for Sonny)? ADA Turner doesn’t make mistakes. So what was that all about?
Y&R
HIT: Danny and Christine help Michael and Lauren get over themselves. The scenes where Danny (Michael Damian) and Christine (Lauralee Bell) played amateur therapists to help Lauren (Tracey Bregman) and Michael (Christian LeBlanc) realize they were better together were fantastic fun, and even a little emotional. And then, Danny asking Michael to officiate their wedding, and Christine asking Lauren to be her matron of honor, was another moment we absolutely loved. What took Christine so long to ask Lauren?
