Soap Hub looks at the Hits and Misses for the week of March 24-28 in the worlds of Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless, and Beyond the Gates.
Top 10 Hits and Misses
10. MISS: Kristina tampers with Ric’s car (GH). Everybody told Kristina (Kate Mansi) to let her anger and vengeful feelings towards Ava (Maura West) go. She thinks Ava shouldn’t be a mother to Avery (Ava and Grace Scarola) and wants Ava to feel the pain she felt when she lost the baby she carried. Ava has felt it and much worse when she lost her grown child Keke (ex-Hayley Erin). And now this accident will probably reignite the animosity between Molly (Kristen Vaganos) and Kristina since Ric (Rick Hearst) was collateral damage. We just hope this puts an end to the Ava/Kristina war.
9. MISS: Orpheus surprises Marlena in her hotel room (DAYS). While we didn’t expect Orpheus to pop up in Marlena’s hotel room in Estonia, and we adore George DelHoyo, it would have been nice if the show hadn’t, once again, tapped into the show’s greatest hits, especially for such an important story. The show has been there done that with Orpheus. The greatest hits we want to keep seeing are the John (the late Drake Hogestyn) flashbacks.

8. HIT: Brooke versus Hope with Katie as a referee (B&B). The big scenes came in the episode Heather Tom wrote, starred, and directed for her soap opera anniversary. Hope (Annika Noelle) — who was stellar — accused her mom of not standing up for her. Meanwhile, Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) blamed her daughter for causing her to lose Ridge (Thorsten Kaye). The two battled, and Hope almost hit her mom. Katie (Tom) stopped her before she could. And there was a lot of crying. they were intense and painful to watch. But instead of Hope storming out, she and Brooke ended up in a hug.
7. MISS: Hayley not believing the women who are suing Bill (BTG). It’s a very realistic situation to have one woman have a completely different work experience than other women. However, we’re still disappointed us that Hayley (Marquita Goings) refuses to believe that the women suing Bill’s (Timon Kyle Durrett) law firm for hostile work environment and sexual harassment were lying or their opinions weren’t valid. Hopefully, her eyes will open as the lawsuit continues.
6. MISS: Adam and Chelsea tell the Newmans about their reunion (Y&R). The best part of Adam (Mark Grossman) and Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) telling the Newmans they were back together was Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) and even Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) were on their best behavior with Adam. Other than that, the scenes were a bit overkill when we just saw Adam and Chelsea breaking the news to Connor (Judah Mackey) the day before.

5. HIT: Anita schools Naomi with her rap (BTG). Joyful moments are sometimes scarce on soaps, but not on Beyond the Gates. They happen all the time. Anita (Tamara Tunie) standing up and rapping for Naomi (Arielle Prepetit) gave us so much joy. It was great to see the grandmother school her granddaughter as she brought the lyrics and the rhymes while Naomi provided the beats:
“Hey, hey, hey, listen up y’all, I’m Anita Dupree, been singing sweet melodies since ’73. I’ve performed with the best, now living life blessed, gotta family that’s putting me to the test. But you know I’m still fly, still got that spark. My rhymes are so hot they light up the dark. From the stage to the screen to my living room, Anita Dupree still got the BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.” Glorious.
4. HIT: Ava plays matchmaker and brings together Portia and Nina (GH). Hopefully, the Portia (Brook Kerr) and Nina (Cynthia Watros) team-up to take down Drew (Cameron Mathison) will get more play than the Carly (Laura Wright) and Nina team-up to take down Drew.

3. MISS: Brooke tries to convince Ridge to come back to her (B&B). Ugh. Brooke using the Forresters getting their company back to try and return everything back to normal was not a good look. She tried to talk Ridge into remembering the way it was between them. Maybe she will eventually learn that losing Ridge could be the best thing for her.
2. HIT: Tate snitches (DAYS). Tate’s (Leo Howard) snitching immediately had consequences. Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) threw Doug III (Peyton Meyer) out of the Horton house. Holly (Ashley Puzemis) decided to end things with Tate and is letting Doug hole up in the Kiriakis mansion. The story needed to move forward, and now it has. The necklace is gone, however. Who did Melinda (Tina Huang) sell it to?
1. HIT: Sharon and Phyllis turn to each other (Y&R). While Sharon (Sharon Case) and Phyllis’s kidnapping and psychological torture came way too soon after the Jordan (Colleen Zenk) and Ian (Ray Wise) supervillain saga, we’re enjoying the aftermath. Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) is struggling, and the only person she can turn to who really knows what she went through is Sharon. And so now they’ve come to a detente of sorts. And it’s nice. Phyllis can still have her enemies like Christine (Lauralee Bell) and Diane (Susan Walters). Maybe even Sally (Courtney Hope). But the relationship between Sharon and Phyllis needed to evolve. And now it has. Hopefully, it’ll take.
Honorable Mentions
DAYS
HIT: Sophia and Doug III confrontation in Horton Town Square. This was the first time Sophia (Rachel Boyd) and Doug chatted. And it was pretty wonderful. Hopefully, he gets the job at The Bistro so those two can scheme together to get what they want. They both showed so much life that it showed us that they held themselves back when they were with Holly and Tate.
MISS: The forged letter secret is prolonged. We thought this week would be the week Xander (Paul Telfer) found out the truth about Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier) and the forged letter. But noooo! Now Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) is in on the secret. In other news, what is with Xander feeling compelled to tell Alex the truth? While we like that he’s become a better man because of Sarah’s (Linsey Godfrey) love, thinking that Alex needed to know the truth didn’t feel like Xander.
BTG
MISS: Martin’s presidential ambitions. Why now? Martin (Brandon Claybon) is super young. He is having nightmares, daymares, his grandparents don’t approve. His husband wants to go back to work. How long has he even been a congressman? What’s the rush on entering the race? This is something we hope gets fleshed out as we see more and more of Martin and Smitty (Mike Manning).
HIT: Proud parents, Bill and Dani. Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla) dropped a bomb on her mother. Meanwhile, Naomi showed up at her dad’s law firm with her own bombshell. Chelsea told Dani (Karla Mosley) about wanting to quit modeling to start her own business. Naomi wanted to see her dad’s face when he learned about the lawsuit against his firm. You’d think that both Dani and Bill would melt down. Well, they didn’t. At least not to their kids’ faces. They were both proud of their children.

Y&R
HIT: Phyllis is the voice of reason with Billy. Phyllis has consistently told Billy (Jason Thompson) that she’s not here for vengeance. She simply wants to start something new, innovative, and special. But Billy’s still taking the opportunity to go after Chancellor thanks to Aristotle Dumas. Billy thinks he’s risen above his revenge phase. He hasn’t, and Phyllis knows it.
MISS: The name “Aristotle Dumas.” Something tells us we’re going to be hearing the name “Aristotle Dumas” over and over again. We might have to start a drinking game. And we haven’t even met the guy yet.
B&B
MISS: Steffy and Taylor celebrating their big wins. Don’t get us wrong. They had every right to be happy. Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) is co-CEO of Forrester Creations again, which is great. Taylor (Rebecca Budig) held on to Ridge. Good for her. It’s just that the celebration felt a bit forced. The celebration lasted the entire episode.
HIT: Luna and Will (B&B). Their first conversation at Il Giardino turned out to be fun to watch. Will (Crew Morrow) wasn’t afraid of her. He gave as good as Luna (Lisa Yamada) gave. More, please.

GH
HIT: Stella, Tracy, and Curtis (GH). Love that the show added Curtis (Donnell Turner) to one of our favorite soap friendships Stella (Vernee Watson) and Tracy (Jane Elliot). They drank tea, they spilled tea and fun was had by all.
MISS: Drew hits the delusional phase of his villainy (GH). When Drew told Nina that she didn’t want him and Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) together because Nina wanted him all to herself, that was the first time we thought maybe Drew wasn’t really Drew. That was such an odd thing to say.
