Soap Hub looks at the Hits and Misses for the week of September 22-26 in the worlds of Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless, and Beyond the Gates.

Top Ten Hits and Misses

10. MISS: Portia’s fixation on Jordan (GH). When Portia (Brook Kerr) heard her husband tell Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) that he had met Jordan (Tanisha Harper) for a drink the night of the shooting, it triggered a reaction. She was done with Curtis (Donnell Turner) and felt her own actions (including sleeping with Sawandi Wilson’s Isaiah) were justified. It was hard to accept her reaction. At least she admitted to Jordan that this wasn’t totally about her; it was about Curtis.

9. HIT: Phyllis’s reaction to Cane and Traci reconnecting (Y&R). Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) watching Traci (Beth Maitland) and Cane (Billy Flynn) reconnect after not seeing each other for so many years was hilarious. Loved Y&R not shying away from this reintroduction of a plot point that featured a completely different actor in the role of Cane (Flynn instead of Daniel Goddard). Phyllis’s facial expressions were wonderful.

8. MISS: Ashley and Derek (BTG). Derek (Ben Gavin) keeps telling Jacob his reasons for lying to Ashley (Jen Jacob) about regaining some of the feeling in his legs. Meanwhile, he’s just lying to himself. Maybe if the story were a little more campy, we’d have more fun watching it.

7. HIT: Deke and Deacon reunion (B&B). Deke (Harrison Cone) headed over to Los Angeles’ only restaurant, Il Giardino, and reconnected with his dad. The reunion was perfect. Deke even let loose with the Luna (Lisa Yamada) secret, so the son caused trouble for his father, too. He may have inadvertently damaged Deacon’s (Sean Kanan) and Sheila’s marriage beyond repair, so the drama is real.

6. MISS: Sally gives Billy another chance (Y&R). Billy (Jason Thompson) betrayed Sally (Courtney Hope) by selling out Abbott Communications in favor of going after revenge and Chancellor. Sally gave her boyfriend an ultimatum: Chancellor or her. Billy chose Sally, but with him, one never knows if he’s truly genuine about his choices. Time will tell. If he disappoints her again, this is on her.

5. HIT: Maggie and the Men of Titan band together (DOOL). It felt good to see Maggie (Suzanne Rogers), along with Xander (Paul Telfer), Philip (Jean-Paul Lavoisier), Brady (Eric Martsolf), and Alex (Robert Scott Wilson), band together to get on the same page and decide to save Titan from Tony (Thaao Penghlis). While these corporate shenanigans don’t always make the best story arcs, this one is fun, especially from the Titan side of things.

4. MISS: Luna’s inability to realize she took advantage of Will is maddening (B&B). Luna’s delusion is real. And the delusion is maddening. While Lisa Yamada continues to do a great job, we’re not going to lie. It’s tough to watch Luna act like she didn’t purposely get Will (Crew Morrow) obliterated and take advantage of him. And now she stands there in the middle of Bill’s (Don Diamont) mansion as if she and Will deserve to be in a real relationship. Maddening!

3. HIT: Dani and Andre get married (BTG). This plot development gave us the most fun scenes of the week. Dani and Andre were both reeling from different romantic glitches, so they got drunk and flew to Vegas and then got more drunk and got married. The best part is that an Anita Williams Dupree impersonator married them. The ceremony was colorful, unexpected, and beyond hilarious. Kudos to Karla Mosley, Sean Freeman, and Tamara Tunie.

2. MISS: Holly and Tate breaking up for the millionth time (DOOL). Holly (Ashley Puzemis) and Tate (Leo Howard) stay together for five minutes before breaking up again, so it’s difficult to invest in them. Right now, we’re investing in Sophia (Rachel Boyd), who’s about to blow up multiple lives with her antics.

1. HIT: Port Charles celebrates Monica (GH). The funeral for Monica (the late Leslie Charleson) was heartbreaking, but it was also great listening to what everybody had to say about this woman who made such an impact on Port Charles. Starting on Thursday with Ned (Wally Kurth) and ending on Friday with Tracy’s eulogy, the actors delivered the heart, the tears, and the humor. And there was even a little chaos with Tracy (Jane Elliot) kicking Drew (Cameron Mathison) out, which fueled the fire of his revenge.

Miscellaneous

HIT and MISS: Sophia has it out for Johnny (DOOL). We applaud and even encourage Sophia for going after Johnny (Carson Boatman) and wanting to cause trouble for him. She’s right, his suddenly pulling out of the adoption really did her a disservice. So her messing with Johnny’s current adoption chances is understandable. We just wish it didn’t also have to mess with Chanel’s (Raven Bowens) chances of having a baby. Her journey so far has been tragic. We want her to be a mother.

A tale of two Billy Flynn characters (Y&R) and (DOOL). Flynn’s characters have wildly different outlooks on life, for the most part. While they both love their children, Flynn’s CBS character, Cane Ashby, has found himself smack dab in the middle of high-stakes corporate intrigue. Meanwhile, over on Peacock, Chad DiMera told Brady Black that “at this stage in my life, I’m not cut out for corporate battles” and that he didn’t miss the toxic corporate world.

Actors Making Us Happy This Week: Jane Elliot (GH) — Tracy morning Monica has been nothing short of heartbreaking. Because of Elliot, we really felt Tracy’s pain. Tyler Joseph Andrews (DOOL) continued to impress as Theo reflected on his high school days when he was bullied. Harrison Cone (B&B) as Deke Sharpe is trying to keep his boyfriend, Remy (Christian Weissmann), honest and good while also enjoying his reunion with his dad. Courtney Hope (Y&R) made us feel bad for the pain Billy put Sally through. Jasmine Burke (BTG) is one amazing ball of light as an actress. She even sold us on the Ted (Keith D. Robinson) and June flirtation.

Jury’s Out: Doug’s Death (BTG). We need more time to process Doug’s (Jason Graham) death. The good thing, so far, is that it’s bringing back one of Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli) and Doug’s kids, Donnell McBride.

Honorable Mentions

B&B

MISS: Where is the Brooke/Ridge/Thomas follow-up? Last week, we said the jury was out on Thomas’s 180 on Brooke and Ridge. The last time we saw him, he hugged Brooke, and it seemed like he let go of his anger. But we haven’t seen him since to figure out what he was thinking, so we’re moving this into “MISS” territory.

BTG

MISS: Nicole’s reaction to Dani getting married (BTG). We should have expected Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) to react negatively to Dani’s quickie drunken wedding, but we were still surprised. After all, she didn’t take it well when she first found out about Dani and Andre. But it wasn’t cool how judgey she sounded when it came to her sister. Maybe there was an underlying reason why she did what she did. Find out before getting upset or making it about yourself, Nicole.

DOOL

HIT: Sophia goes dark. Rachel Boyd is doing a stupendous job playing the dark side of Sophia. She’s super fun but also super unhinged at the same time. We can’t wait to see more.

GH

HIT: Progress with Gio and the Quartermaines. It was great that during the funeral and afterwards at the Qs, it looked like Gio (Giovanni Mazza) started to take some of the more poignant words about family to heart. And now his heart is starting to open up more and more to his biological family.

Y&R

HIT: Claire realizes that she may not be ready for a serious relationship. Love this for her. Maybe she doesn’t need to get married two seconds after finding her biological family and getting an actual life. She has a lot to learn about herself, and it feels like she’s seeing that now. Is Holden (Nathan Owens) the man she should gravitate to? Maybe not, but at this age, she’s allowed to make her own mistakes. She’s starting to have epiphanies about who she is and what she wants, and that’s beyond cool to witness.
