Soap Hub looks at the Hits and Misses for the week of May 26-30 in the worlds of Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless, and Beyond the Gates.

Top 10 Hits and Misses

10. MISS: Brooke is still asking Ridge to come home (B&B). Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) thinks that because everybody else is moving on from the takeover and Hope (Annika Noelle) and Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) can get engaged, it’s time for Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) to come home. Hopefully, Brooke will soon wake up and realize not everything will revert to the way it was.

9. HIT: Diane and Tracy bond (Y&R). Yes, we had to hear about the Abbott Mansion refresh a couple of times this week. Thankfully, Ashley (Eileen Davidson) liked it. What we really enjoyed was Diane (Susan Walters) and Traci (Beth Maitland) bonding. Traci actually voiced her heartbreaking thoughts and feelings about Martin (Christopher Cousins).

8. MISS: Drew holds on to Lila’s ring instead of returning it to Michael (GH). After Willow’s (Katelyn MacMullen) disastrous confrontation with Michael (Rory Gibson), she took off her wedding rings and said she’d send them back to Michael. Drew (Cameron Mathison) decided to hold on to Lila’s ring because A) He’s a Quartermaine, and he’s entitled to it. And 2) Someday, they will give it to Amelia (Sequoia & Serenity Mork Macko). A GH fan on social media noted that Drew didn’t even say that his own daughter should get the ring! Stay classy, Drew.

7. HIT: Vanessa and Joey (BTG). Joey is determined to take everything from Doug (Jason Graham)—his wife, his money, maybe even his health—if the man doesn’t pay him back. We have to admit that Vanessa and Joey going at it right on the same table where Doug continually loses his money was a juicy development. It showed how much chemistry Jon Lindstrom and Lauren Buglioli have.

6. MISS: EJ purchases the hospital by default (DAYS). The EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) versus Xander (Paul Telfer) hospital showdown had all the makings of a story filled with fun confrontations and rival pitches. Instead, we got an anonymous vote that came down to Brady (Eric Martsolf), who voted for EJ after Xander got arrested for attacking Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier). This EJ win felt like it was by default, not a ferocious fight for the right to buy the hospital.

5. HIT: Sheila tells Luna to leave town (B&B). This is Sheila (Kimberlin Brown), so we’re never sure if she’s sincere. But it seems like she sees herself in Luna (Lisa Yamada) and is trying to prevent Luna from becoming her. So this conversation where she told her granddaughter to drop the obsession and hightail it out of town was fantastic. But then Luna just had to bring up eliminating Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood). Will Sheila be able to resist the temptation?

4. MISS: Dani walks right into Bill and Hayley’s place (BTG). As much as we adore Dani, her barging into Bill’s (Timon Kyle Durrett) and Hayley’s (Marquita Goings) Fairmont Crest abode was uncalled for. She could have knocked and still been as dramatic. Having said that, we do love Dani accusing Hayley of faking her pregnancy. Unfortunately, she didn’t win this round with the so-called child bride, and that made us sad.

3. HIT: The Gio fallout (GH). This has to be the best turnaround for a story in 2025. The longer the secret was kept a secret, the less interested we were getting. And then the bomb dropped at the Nurses’ Ball. Now we can’t get enough of the fallout. The way Tracy (Jane Elliot) reacted to learning about Gio (Giovanni Mazza) was wonderful. The confrontations between Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Lois (Rena Sofer), as well as Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Lulu (Alexa Havins), were fierce and brought the fury we needed to this story. It’s all so good, and we can’t wait for the fallout to continue.

2. MISS: Phyllis thinks she’s going to run Chancellor (Y&R). Who knows, this could happen. And we would like to see Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) succeed, but not necessarily as the head of Chancellor. However, the thought of her teaming up with Amanda (Mishael Morgan) is delightful. And we wouldn’t mind if Victor (Eric Braeden) took one in the loss column. But instead of Phyllis, can’t Chancellor and Winters become one again?

1. HIT: The John Black flashbacks (DAYS). Paul (Christopher Sean), Carrie (Christie Clark), Will (Chandler Massey), and Eric (Greg Vaughan) all sat by John’s bedside this week. As much as we have been enjoying each return for this painful and heartwrenching storyline, what’s really making us feel the most are the flashbacks. Looking back at the John Black greatness from his murky and convoluted identity struggle to the John and Marlena (Deidre Hall) love story to his instant acceptance of Will and Paul’s sexuality has really touched us. And made us more than emotional.

Hit Honorable Mentions

B&B

HIT: The reaction to Hope and Carter getting engaged. The look on Steffy’s and especially Ridge’s faces was hilarious. That Ridge has no time for Hope.

BTG

HIT: The BTG easter egg. When Eva (Ambyr Michelle) surprised her mom at the apartment, Leslie had to cover for taking a while to answer the door. She said she was listening to her favorite group, The Temptations. “Oh, and have you seen the newest lead singer? Honey, with his fine, sexy, bald self?” Well, in real life, Trisha Mann-Grant, who plays Leslie, is married to that Temptations lead singer. His name is Tony Grant. Love inside jokes like that. Grant joined the group in 2021.

DAYS

HIT: Alice Halsey. Halsey, who plays Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) and Brady’s daughter, Rachel, was really good this week. Rachel struggled as she told her mom and then her dad about witnessing EJ and a gun-toting Johnny (Carson Boatman) fighting the night of the shooting. She looked fearful with Johnny, and then, later, when she saw Eric, she looked so joyous to see the man who once thought she was his daughter. No wonder she is playing THE Laura Ingalls in Netflix’s new adaptation of Little House on the Prairie.

GH

HIT: Gio and Emma. They are a potential supercouple in the making. Their fierce friendship is everything right now. And they have the power to grow into something special. It’s a pleasure to watch scenes featuring Gio and Emma (Braedyn Bruner), aka Gemma.

Y&R

HIT: Lily didn’t go to Nikki’s birthday party. We love that Lily (Christe Khalil) decided not to go and celebrate Nikki’s birthday. She may forgive, but it’s too soon to forget how Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) lied to her and betrayed her. And it was refreshing to see Lily make this choice. Good for her.
