Soap Hub looks at the Hits and Misses for the week of March 31-April 4 in the worlds of Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless, and Beyond the Gates.

Top 10 Hits and Misses

10. HIT: Vanessa McBride and Joey Armstrong have chemistry (BTG). This potential coupling could be fun. This week, Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli) found out the man lied about wanting a house for his mother. However, she lightly scolded him and then moved on. We’re thinking she’s all in. There’s also the matter of Joey (Jon Lindstrom) manipulating Vanessa’s husband, Doug (Jason Graham), at the poker tables. This could become a beautiful and super messy situationship. We approve.

9. MISS: Chelsea tells Billy that she and Adam are a couple (Y&R). When Adam (Mark Grossman) told Sally (Courtney Hope) that he had reunited with Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan), she acted like a normal person. When Chelsea broke the news to Billy (Jason Thompson), he called Adam a monster. He hasn’t been that guy for a long time.

8. HIT: EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) is shot (DAYS). While the execution of this story wasn’t perfect, we are here for an attempted murder mystery that practically involves the entire town. Now, they just need to stick the landing.

7. MISS: Whiplash transitions (B&B). On Wednesday, Bill (Don Diamont) and Liam (Scott Clifton) argued at Bill’s mansion. While the fight was warranted, it felt like we stepped into the middle of the conversation. In addition, Ivy (Ashleigh Brewer) popped up at the Forrester offices as if it were business as usual. Where has she been? We’ve been on this Finn (Tanner Novlan) / Luna (Lisa Yamada) and the Forrester Creations coup for so long that it was jarring to pick up with new storyline beats. Don’t get us wrong. We love seeing more and more characters filter in and get their time to shine. The transitions are just a bit bumpy.

6. MISS: Hayley takes it upon herself to end the lawsuit (BTG). Sure, Hayley (Marquita Goings) is Bill’s (Timon Kyle Durrett) wife. But she’s also one of the company’s paralegals who was promoted over one of the women suing Bill’s law firm. She had no business taking it upon herself to get Naomi (Arielle Prepetit) to drop the suit or the ladies to settle. It’s not her fight. On top of that, it isn’t a good look.

5. HIT: Liam quits his job at Spencer (B&B). Liam quitting Spencer was a good thing. If you’re not happy with your father and how he conducts his life, and he’s become untenable like Bill has, then remove yourself from the situation. His sudden return to Dollar Bill behavior was odd after the way he behaved through this Luna phase. But Liam was right to quit. We just wish Hope (Annika Noelle), Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor), and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) could have done the same at Forrester. Can he talk to them? Well, assuming he’s okay — he did flatline at the end of Friday’s episode.

4. MISS: Kristina spills her own tea at the scene of the accident (GH). We get that Kristina (Kate Mansi) was frantic and panicky and feeling an overwhelming sense of guilt. But her verbal diarrhea confession at the scene of the “accident” was incredibly unlucky for her, considering Lucky (Jonathan Jackson) was right there. Couldn’t he have found out another way?

3. HIT: Traci’s determination to find out if Alan is Martin (Y&R). Traci (Beth Maitland) is so scared, but at the same time, she’s so brave. She needs to know if the man she has been spending so much of her time with is Alan (Christopher Cousins) or his evil twin, Martin (also Christopher Cousins). When she told Jack (Peter Bergman) that she was the one who needed to look into Alan’s eyes. And that this was her story to write, we were very proud of her.

2. MISS: Rafe’s reaction to Jada’s news that she slept with Shawn (DAYS). Jada (Elia Cantu) took too long to tell Rafe (Galen Gering) about her indiscretion with Shawn (Brandon Beemer). She owned that. But the way that Rafe reacted to the news wasn’t what we expected. He blamed her for not knowing that an impostor had taken his place. And he seemingly can’t get past her cheating on him even though he’s cheated in his past relationships. He had no empathy for what Jada experienced, even though she did a good job of telling him her perspective and what her mindset was. Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) and Javi (Al Calderon) even backed her up, but Rafe stayed stubborn. It was so disappointing.

1. HIT: Monica takes care of business, and GH opens a cardiac wing in her honor (GH). We were happy with all the Monica (the late Leslie Charleson) love this week. First, the way Monica wrapped up the Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) versus the Quartermaine mausoleum battle. It was quick and effective, and Drew didn’t know what hit him. Also, the opening of the cardiac wing was a wonderful way to pay tribute to the doctor who meant so much to General Hospital, the workplace, and the show.

Honorable Mentions

B&B

MISS: All of a sudden, Hope and Steffy can’t say enough about Liam. Hope and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) haven’t even thought of Liam in a minute, and then all of a sudden, they can’t stop talking about him. Should that tell us something? Or will this be the reboot of a certain triangle?
HIT: B&B Sheila tells Deacon one thing and does another. We understand why Deacon (Sean Kanan) was horrified to find out Luna — who killed his two besties — was Sheila’s granddaughter. However, Deacon married Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) and found a way to love her despite her being a horrible human. We were happy to see that Sheila could still tap into her dark side and go behind Deacon’s back and forge a relationship with Finn’s daughter. Two crazy peas in a pod.

BTG

HIT: Chelsea stands up to Dani. Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla) had to exert her independence from Dani (Karla Mosley) a couple of times, and we love that for her. Plus, she found a way to give her mom what she wanted and make it work for her. Chelsea is now walking in her final fashion show, debuting her new purse line. Go, Chelsea!
MISS: Ashley wants it all. Ashley (Jen Jacob) told Andre (Sean Freeman) that she loved her boyfriend. But when Andre created distance between the two, she balked at that. Sometimes, you can’t have it both ways. And now Andre has to tolerate awkward dinners with Ashley and Derek (Ben Gavin).

DAYS

HIT: Chanel’s taking EJ to task was wonderful. Chanel couldn’t stay silent. So, she went to the DiMera mansion and had it out with EJ. She stuck up for her husband, plus, she got the point across that because of him, their adoption dreams were crushed. Raven Bowens and Dan Feuerriegel were great in these scenes. And EJ even mentioned Chanel taking him to task in his rant to his father’s portrait shortly before he was shot. So, it had an impact on him.
MISS: Ava leaves town after the shooting. We get why Ava would want to hightail it out of town, especially if she’s guilty. However, according to Tamara Braun, she hasn’t filmed since last July, and her final day on screen was Thursday, April 3. So, does Ava have nothing to do with the rest of this story? She threw a gun away in one of the park trash cans before heading to the airport!

GH

HIT: Braedyn Bruner as Emma Drake. Bruner has really started impressing us, especially this week. Her scenes with Finola Hughes’ Anna Devane were spectacular. Emma is reminding us of Anna, and we’re loving it. Bruner was really good with the fallout of her Quartermaine Crypt protest.
MISS: Hospital shenanigans. Ric and Elizabeth were in the accident on Monday, and we didn’t see them again until Friday. What gives? It kind of took the energy out of the story. Also, Alexis expected Ava to stay away from Ric because her daughters were there. Ava capitulated once, but the second time, she thankfully stood her ground. She had every right to be by his side at the hospital.

Y&R

HIT: Kyle and Jack suss out Victor’s Glissade spies. One good thing Kyle (Michael Mealor) spearheaded. It’s always great when characters do the smart thing and put two and two together. Victor (Eric Braeden) going after Jabot is overkill, so we’re here for Jack and Kyle fighting back.
MISS: Where’s Sally’s oomph? Her bad girl ways need to make a comeback. She shouldn’t have to take advice from Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson). Sally Spectra can take care of her own obstacles, but we’re not sure if this is the time to go after Phyllis (Michelle Stafford).
