The CBS soaps may have only aired three days this week, but there were still plenty of Hits and Misses to break down for the week of March 16–20. Soap Hub dissects the drama, action, and romance across Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless, and Beyond the Gates.

Key Takeaways

  • Action-packed moments across all five soaps kept viewers hooked, from Jason’s sniper setup to shocking romantic twists.
  • Two Bills delivered major drama on B&B and BTG, balancing spectacle with emotional depth.
  • Some soaps stumbled with questionable character choices, leaving fans frustrated.

Top 5 Hits

5. Things were hopping in Port Charles (GH). You have to love it when a soap isn’t all dialogue with characters explaining every detail. Lulu (Alexa Havins) and Nathan (Ryan Paevey) made love. Jason (Steve Burton) went into sniper mode and came this close to offing Cullum (Andrew Hawkes). Marco (Adrian Anchondo) stole Britt’s meds, and in the process, probably doomed himself thanks to Pascal (Marc Forget). Don’t get us wrong, there were great conversations, too. But the balance between dialogue and action kept things interesting this week.

4. Bill exposed and publicly humiliated Ridge (B&B). Bill (Don Diamont) decided to create a spectacle at the Logan launch press event. In addition to the models walking down the runway in Eric Forrester’s designs, Bill took pleasure in revealing that Eric (John McCook) created the new fashion house’s first collection, and that Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) forced his dad to retire. Let’s just say the perplexed press had questions.

3. Jada and Shawn reconnect in the hospital (DAYS). After the police commissioner finished getting Shawn’s account of how he got shot, Jada (Elia Cantu) got personal with Shawn (Brandon Beemer). She took his hand and told him how scared she was when she heard that he had been shot. And the two shared a moment that felt long overdue. For some unknown reason, Shawn and Jada’s relationship was shelved, but it’s hopefully making a comeback. The chemistry is there. Plus, Belle (Martha Madison) may be feeling a type of way about her ex-husband’s near-death experience. The drama writes itself.

2. Bill and Anita’s difficult conversation (BTG). So often, Anita (Tamara Tunie) has no time for Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett), her daughter Dani’s cheating ex-husband. But whenever the two sit down for a deep conversation, something beautiful happens. Bill shares a piece of himself with his former mother-in-law, and she learns something from him. This week, Bill talked about his past and his mother, who dealt with depression. He didn’t want to see Anita’s light dim, as had happened with his mom. Her breast cancer and chemo treatment are devastating her body. But Bill’s opening up may have given her the boost she needed to keep fighting. This conversation was enlightening and emotional.

1. Diane has had it with Jack (Y&R). Jack and Diane’s relationship pretty much imploded this week when Diane, Billy (Jason Thompson), and Kyle (Michael Mealor) raced to rescue Jack (Peter Bergman) on that super yacht floating in the middle of Lake Michigan. Diane found a potentially drugged Jack in bed post-sex with Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) of all people. Diane and a poor, confused Jack had it out in spectacular fashion, beginning with the slap heard around the world. And later, Diane walked out on him. Susan Walters was especially fantastic, conveying the devastation and betrayal.

5. When did Ivy start caring about what’s “proper”? Why does Ivy (Ashleigh Brewer) keep going on and on about what’s proper? This isn’t HBO Max’s Gilded Age. This is 2026, Los Angeles. They work in the fashion industry. And Will (Crew Morrow), Electra (Laneya Grace), and Dylan (Sydney Bullock) are in their 20s. We need answers on why Ivy is acting like Marian’s Aunt Agnes (Christine Baranski). There has to be a story there. We’ve asked this question before, and we will continue to ask.

4. Izaiah is too chill about Leslie (BTG). We get that Izaiah (Lami) is a laid-back kind of guy. And that this is his first time dealing with Dana “Leslie” Thomas (Trisha Mann-Grant). But he has seen firsthand how chaotic she is. And he has heard the stories. But he’s brushing it off with a smile and a smirk. And he doesn’t see how truly destructive this woman is. Izaiah needs to believe the hype. And he needs to prepare himself for the armageddon Leslie will undoubtedly cause. She planned Eva (Ambyr Michelle) and Izaiah’s entire wedding, and they aren’t even engaged. What more does he need to hear?

3. Gabi didn’t fess up (DAYS). The moment presented itself. Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier) came clean about his fraud, and Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) was close to sharing her secret, too. Not only did she know about what Philip did. But she used it to help Tony (Thaao Penghlis) get DiMera back. And all because she thought Tony would make her the company’s CEO. But he didn’t. And she didn’t take the opportunity to tell Philip the truth. Has she not learned anything from her sordid history?

2. Olivia’s attitude about Jacinda (GH). Apparently, Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) is living the Gilded Age life, too. She didn’t just scold Michael (Rory Gibson) after she caught him and Jacinda (Paige Herschell) in the gatehouse. She called a family meeting! And spearheaded some obnoxious intervention focusing on Michael’s behavior. But it was really about Olivia not approving of the company Michael was keeping. Up until recently, Jacinda was a sex worker. And she doesn’t feel like her presence at the Quartermaine house is appropriate for the kids. Thankfully, Tracy (Jane Elliot) told her what to do with her opinion.

1. Victor plays Phyllis (Y&R). Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) has been going around telling everybody how she outsmarted, outwitted, and outplayed the Great Victor Newman. She thought she would be the hero for once and get Jack, Lily, and the kids back for everyone. But it didn’t work out that way. Jack was rescued. Victor knew it. But he kept quiet and simply went back to their OG deal, asking for Chancellor. And she gave it to him, not realizing that her first instincts to question Victor’s actions were the way to go. Come on, Phyllis, we were rooting for you!

Honorable Mentions

B&B

HIT: Will stands up to RJ. Here’s to more of Will standing up for himself. He didn’t let RJ (Brayan Nicoletti) run all over him, and he explained himself and his opinions to Ridge (Thorsten Kaye). However, he also needs to figure out what he’s feeling for the women in his life.

BTG

HIT: Shanice’s favorite Aunt Monica. Dr. Monica McCormick (Iona Morris) was back, flirted with Kial (Greg Vaughan), and didn’t hold back when she met Leslie, who tried to warn her away from Ted (Keith D. Robinson). We hope that Monica permanently transfers from her hospital in Houston to Garland Memorial. We’d love to see more of her.

DAYS

HIT: EJ raging at Gwen. What a fun fight EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) and Gwen (Emily O’Brien) had on Thursday, when EJ let loose and accused Gwen of going rogue. After kidnapping Dimitri (Peter Porte), she unnecessarily un-kidnapped him when she brought him to Salem to ruin Leo’s wedding. And that action could come back to bite them in the you-know-what. More loud and delicious soap fights like this, please.

GH

HIT: Molly’s endometriosis flare-up. March is Endometriosis Awareness Month, and what better way to honor that than through Molly (Kristen Vaganos)? She had to muster up the strength to tell Cody (Josh Kelly) about what she was going through, and she, ultimately, had to tell him she couldn’t have children. And he said she was enough for him. The moment was educational and moved the story beats forward.

Y&R

HIT: Adam and Nick acting like brothers. Right now, in Las Vegas, it’s Adam (Mark Grossman) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) against the world. And they are both going through their own angst and dealing with the hunt for Matt Clark like true siblings. We approve.
