Soap Hub looks at the Hits and Misses for the week of June 2-6 in the worlds of Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless, and Beyond the Gates.

Top 10 Hits and Misses

10. MISS: Eva’s leverage means she’s also protecting her mother (BTG). Yes, Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) is Eva’s mother, but the woman came close to throwing her daughter under the bus. She did kick her out of the apartment. Unfortunately, Eva (Ambyr Michelle) can’t pull the trigger on turning the motorcycle helmet and gloves from Laura’s (Destiny Love) hit-and-run. It’s understandable but disappointing.

9. HIT: Devon teases Nick about scheduling time with his ex-wives (Y&R). The show needs more fun moments like Devon (Bryton James) giving Nick (Josh Morrow) a hard time about balancing his quality time with exes, Sharon (Sharon Case), and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford).

8. MISS (So far): The slow-burning manuscript story (DAYS). This story is headed somewhere, but it would be very helpful if it could happen at a faster pace. This week, Kate (Lauren Koslow) left the manuscript unattended in the hospital waiting area, where Anna (Leann Hunley) and Mrs. Choi (Shi Ne Nielson) spotted it and read some of it. That was the drama.

7. HIT: Sheila sounds the Luna alarm (B&B). DeluLuna is on the prowl and is making waves about eliminating Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood). Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) seemed sincere in trying to teach Luna (Lisa Yamada) boundaries and accepting the fact that she wouldn’t have a relationship with Finn (Tanner Novlan). It took Sheila a long time to learn it; she should expect the same for Luna. But thankfully, she’s trying to warn people instead of sitting on the information. And she came clean to Deacon (Sean Kanan) about meeting up with Luna, too.

6. MISS: Kai can’t read the room (GH). Kai (Jens Austrin Astrup) needed to read the room and shut it about Drew (Cameron Mathison). He has every right to feel the way he feels, but he didn’t need to speak on it at Curtis’ (Donnell Turner) and Portia’s (Brook Kerr) place. He knows how they and Trina (Tabyana Ali) feel about the congressman.

5. HIT: Anita faces her painful Articulette past (BTG). While this wasn’t an outside-the-box reveal, it did give Anita the opportunity to face one of her biggest demons, and we appreciate that so much. Tamara Tunie gave such a heartbreaking performance, especially while Anita read Barbara’s suicide note and then as she stood up for herself with Tracy (Maria Howell) and Sharon (Bonita Brisker).

4. MISS: Luna’s logic (B&B). Maybe it’s a sign of how far gone she is, but we’re having trouble with Luna’s logic. How does eliminating Steffy solve all her problems? It will only make Finn dig his heels in more. With his wife gone, he won’t suddenly open up his heart to Luna and Sheila. He’s going to close his world to them even further.

3. HIT: Rory Gibson as the new Michael Corinthos (GH). Easing recasts in is usually the best route on a soap opera. The slower the burn, the better. However, in the case of Michael Corinthos, the exact opposite was the way to go. Rory Gibson hit the ground running the second Michael returned from Baden-Baden. Ever since, the Michael versus Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) story has been must-see. Gibson plays Michael so intensely and stoically, but you also see the vulnerability and the warmth when he’s talking about or when he’s with his kids. Or when he’s looking at Sasha (Sofia Mattsson). So far, we’re impressed.

2. MISS: A charm bracelet and a toast were supposed to change Victor’s mind about Claire and Kyle (Y&R)? Claire (Hayley Erin) underestimated her grandfather once again. Kyle (Michael Mealor) giving the charm bracelet was really nice and touching. His toast? Well, we agree with Victor (Eric Braeden), who called it cloying. Even if it were the most magnificent speech in the world, Victor would still go after Kyle. The five-million-dollar deal and the offer to get out of town were more interesting, however. Although it showed us how Kyle doesn’t really know himself that well. He will break that contract sooner rather than later.

1. HIT: Marlena mourns John Black (DAYS). This week, DAYS centered on saying goodbye to a man who was heroic and one of the hearts of the show, John Black. Every second of the characters paying their respects to Marlena’s husband has been achingly painful. The cast and the flashbacks have only made the scenes more meaningful. But we need to single out Deidre Hall, who continually broke our hearts as Marlena mourned the love of her life. When she was in tears, so were we. So, we were in tears a lot

    Honorable Mentions

    B&B

MISS: Why don’t Steffy and Finn have better security at their house? This week, Luna once again walked right into Steffy and Finn’s place. Finn’s biological family is dangerous. Why hasn’t he turned the house into Fort Knox yet?

    BTG

HIT: Kat finds Leslie’s evidence. Her true crime and Nancy Drew skills are on point. Clearly, Kat (Colby Muhammad) could be the most stylish detective to ever solve mysteries. She may not be the most polished investigator just yet. She needs to learn more about the legal nuances, but her raw skills are already legendary.

    DAYS

HIT: Bo finds out about Victor’s death. It was a little hard to concentrate on Bo’s return when we were feeling devastated about John. However, the scenes after Bo (Peter Reckell) woke up and he reconnected with his family were great, including his telling Shawn (Brandon Beemer) how proud he was of his son. But the most poignant and emotional moment happened when Hope (Kristian Alfonso), Shawn, and Ciara (Victoria Konefal) told Bo that Victor had died. Peter Reckell brought the heartbreak, and he also had us in tears.

    GH

HIT: Elizabeth tells Lucky she can’t marry him. First of all, Lucky’s proposal was unexpected. He and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) didn’t feel like they had gotten to that place yet. After all, he had just told her how he had lied about her accident and had known since the night it happened. So, while we’re sad to see Lucky and Jonathan Jackson leave town, Elizabeth made the best decision. Lucky and Liz have different fundamental wants, needs, and beliefs.
MISS: So, TJ (Tajh Bellow) is still in town. And he’s working at the hospital off-screen. Got it.

    Y&R

MISS: Dumas snubs Adam. Victoria (Amelia Heinle) is staying back in Genoa City to take care of a sick Cole (J. Eddie Peck), but at least she got an invite. Seriously, Y&R? What’s the point of snubbing Adam (Mark Grossman)? Hopefully, we’ll find out whenever Dumas gets to town. But, for now, we’re upset for Adam.
