Soap Hub looks at the Hits and Misses for the week of July 7-11 in the worlds of Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless, and Beyond the Gates.

Top Ten Hits and Misses

10. MISS: Brook Lynn and Lulu’s rivalry (GH). It was Lulu’s (Alexa Havins) turn to rail against and slap Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) after the Quartermaine was responsible for Rocco (Finn Carr) finding out about Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) giving birth to him. While we are enjoying Rocco’s journey to finding out about this piece of the past, we can’t say the same for this rivalry. The women need to go to their separate corners and concentrate on their own lives for a while.

9. HIT: Danny and Christine get engaged (Y&R). The best part of this inevitable engagement was the flashbacks. Lauralee Bell and Michael Damian both looked like babies. It was great to see Danny and Cricket way back when, and it was nice to see that they’re finally going to get married…again.

8. MISS: Gwen won’t return the necklace to Julie (DAYS). We had high hopes that DAYS was nearing the end of this story and that the necklace would take its rightful place with Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) and the Hortons. But, alas, a petty Gwen (Emily O’Brien) who could buy a million other necklaces with her Von Leuschner fortune would rather bask in the pain of a woman who recently lost the love of her life.

7. HIT: Nicole goes after Leslie’s throat (BTG). Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) is always so put together, but lately she’s been unraveling bit by bit, and we’re here for it. So when she and Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) had their Orphey Gene’s confrontation, and Leslie, of course, went too far, we applaud Nicole for losing her you-know-what. Nicole got messy, and we don’t blame her.

6. MISS: Victor told Adam to turn right back around and go back to Genoa City (Y&R). Adam (Mark Grossman) finally ventured out of Genoa City to join his family at Cane’s prolonged party. Yes, the Newmans were appreciative of Adam taking three hours to walk up that mountain to where the partygoers were camped. He gave them good information on Cane (Billy Flynn) and an update on Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and Cole (J. Eddie Peck). But then Victor (Eric Braeden) told Adam to turn right back around and go back to GC. Adam spent most of his trip going up and down that mountain! Poor guy.

5. HIT: Lisa Yamada earns Emmy nomination (B&B). Last week, we shined a spotlight on Yamada for the work she’s been doing with this vengeance story. This week was no different. And then, when the Daytime Emmy nominations were announced and Yamada was included in the Emerging Talent category, we were beyond ecstatic for her.

4. MISS: Tracy and Sharon try to railroad Queen Anita (BTG). In Chicago, the other two Articulettes — Tracy (Maria Howell) and Sharon (Bonita Brisker) stood up to Anita (Tamara Tunie). They resented her money, her status, her everything. But during Friday’s episode, they were relentless with their harping. Even Tracy! They felt entitled to pile on, and it was unfair to a woman who recognized the person she was then and did the work to change herself. But Tracy and Sharon don’t want to see or hear that. They want to get theirs. Anita throwing them out was a relief to our ears!

3. HIT: Maggie and Xander scenes now that Maggie has no time for Xander (DAYS). Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) and Xander (Paul Telfer) scenes are always good. Their relationship has changed, however. It was always nice that Maggie had a soft spot for him. Everybody needs that person. But now Maggie has no time for Xander and the two regularly spar — verbally, that is. And funny enough, we love those scenes, too. This week’s battle was no exception.

2. MISS: Poppy’s reaction to Luna’s death (B&B). We’re still trying to process Poppy’s very public and unexpected response to Luna’s death (if she is gone, that is). We knew that Poppy (Romy Park) was over her daughter blaming her for everything wrong in the world and framed her for the murders of Hollis (Hollis W. Chambers) and Tom (Clint Howard). But saying she was glad Luna was gone? That was cold. Honest and sad, but cold. Even Li (Naomi Matsuda) was like, ‘damn!’

1. HIT: Trina kicks Kai to the curb (GH). This was our rewind and repeat moment of the week. Kai (Jens Austin Astrup) betrayed Trina (Tabyana Ali, who was wonderful in these scenes) and her family by blabbing Curtis’s (Donnell Turner) plan to Drew (Cameron Mathison). This enabled Drew to get the jump on them and paved the way for another blackmail situation. Trina couldn’t believe Kai showed loyalty to Drew over her family. And we felt it when she told him that he would never be family, and then she told him where to go. Bravo, Trina!

Honorable Mentions

B&B

MISS: Kicking Dollar Bill out of the hospital. Bill (Don Diamont) messed up royally. He knows it. We will never understand why he had Luna pardoned. And he will pay for his actions every day, should Liam (Scott Clifton) succumb to his injuries or his tumor. But throwing him out of the hospital when his son was fighting for his life was a choice.

MORE: The latest Bold and the Beautiful Comings & Goings.

BTG

HIT: Shanice and Derek. Their date was unexpected. So was their connection. Shanice (Ernestine Johnson) already has Derek (Ben Gavin) saying, “Ashley (Jen Jacob), who?” More, please. These two have potential.

DAYS

MISS: Sarah asks Xander to take Victoria out of the country. Why would Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) expect a currently unreasonable Xander to agree to her taking Victoria to Bermuda? They are in the midst of a heated and quickly escalating situation: figuring out who gets custody of Victoria. Two seconds ago, they couldn’t even come to a fair agreement. Why would she think he would be okay with her taking their daughter away, even for a week?

GH

HIT and MISS: Michael and Sasha, and the stalker. The hit part of the equation involves Michael (Rory Gibson) believing Sasha (Sofia Mattsson). There have been strange incidents involving the baby, and they don’t add up. But instead of thinking that Sasha’s destined for Ferncliff, Michael believed her. It was so refreshing. On the “miss” side of things, Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) is messing with Sasha’s mind, knowing full well what the woman has been through in the past. Something tells us that by the end of this, it won’t be Sasha in Ferncliff. They may have a bed assigned to Ms. Willow.

Y&R

HIT: Cane’s old wedding ring is on a necklace he presumably wears every day. We knew he still loved Lily (Christel Khalil), but he’s seriously carrying a torch. Lily, on the other hand, claimed she couldn’t be bothered and spent more and more time with Damian. Seems like the lady doth protest too much.
