Soap Hub looks at the Hits and Misses for the week of July 28-August 1 in the worlds of Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless, and Beyond the Gates.
Top Ten Hits and Misses
10. MISS: All the Stefano talk — there is so much of it (DAYS). Who knows where this story is going, but suddenly, so many people have Stefano on their minds. Even Cat (AnnaLynne McCord) and Rafe (Galen Gering) talked about it this week. As much as we adore one of the greatest daytime villains of all time, this Stefano chatter is a lot to handle. Except for one example, which we’ll touch on later in our honorable mentions.
9. HIT: Cane says he isn’t giving up on Lily (Y&R). Cane (Billy Flynn) probably regrets ever bringing half of Genia City to Nice. Whatever he was trying to accomplish there went terribly wrong to the tune of three dead bodies. However, we still admire the fact that he isn’t giving up on Lily (Christel Khalil). There’s so much potential, and the chemistry between Flynn and Khalil works.
8. MISS: Drew plays the “long con” with Curtis (GH). Why do so many secrets in Port Charles take months to be revealed, but Drew (Cameron Mathison) suddenly learned that Curtis (Donnell Turner) ratted him out to Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) two seconds after it happened? And Curtis should be smarter than to believe Drew wants any sort of truce with him. Hopefully, he will remain cautious.

7. HIT: Julie gloats to Gwen over the necklace (DAYS). This was such a satisfying scene. Gwen (Emily O’Brien) should have given up the necklace as soon as she set foot in Salem. Instead, she lorded it over Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes). So Julie wearing the heirloom in front of Gwen right there in Horton Town Square was glorious.
6. MISS: Andre and Ashley’s Parisian “adventure” (BTG). We’re not sure what Andre (Sean Freeman) was trying to accomplish by giving Ashley (Jen Jacob) a full-on Parisian date this week. It felt like he was going all Pygmalion on her, and it didn’t give off any romantic vibes. Also, points off for the beret. Why is that always the way TV shows represent Paris?
5. HIT: Brooke, Ridge, Nick, and Eric travel to Italy (B&B). Thank you to The Bold and the Beautiful for never giving up on a tried-and-true element of daytime television: location shoots. However, they make it happen. Keep it coming. The Italian views are amazing. Setting the drama plaguing Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang), Ridge (Thorsten Kaye), Nick (Jack Wagner), and Eric (John McCook) in front of such a gorgeous backdrop hits different.

4. MISS: Eric is relentless in his quest for Brooke and Ridge to reunite (B&B). Speaking of Eric, his quest to reunite Brooke and Ridge has reached relentless levels. Why is he pushing so hard? Ridge has made his choice, and Brooke should now be able to make her own choices in peace.
3. HIT: The Articulettes’ comeback concert (BTG). Wow, visually, the concert looked amazing. Props to the behind-the-scenes departments, who all pulled together to create a beautiful experience, from the stage design to The Articulettes’ wardrobe. And don’t get us started on Anita (Tamara Tunie), Sharon (Bonita Brisker), and Tracy’s (Maria Howell) vocal talents. From an audio perspective, they sounded spectacular.

2. MISS: Chance’s death (Y&R). We adored Chance (Conner Floyd), and while the character wasn’t being utilized all that much, his death felt senseless. First of all, it was rushed, and then there wasn’t much emotional payoff. What happened to Abby (Melissa Ordway)? She was there in Nice. Why didn’t we get to see her reaction to learning about his death? And killing a Chancellor on top of that. It was just sad.
1. HIT: The reactions to Drew and Willow’s wedding imploding (GH). As Willow confronted Drew after learning about his fling with Nina (Cynthia Watros), Ava (Maura West) and Ric (Rick Hearst) were pretty much Statler and Waldorf, watching from the wings. They had the best reactions to the drama going on. They represented us, the audience. Later, when Tracy (Jane Elliot) and Cody (Josh Kelly) found out that the wedding didn’t happen, their reactions were priceless, too.
Honorable Mentions
B&B
HIT: Li has Luna. As suspected, Li (Naomi Matsuda) has Luna (Lisa Yamada), and she’s doing her best to save her. We are glad that B&B didn’t kill Luna off. It seems like Li not only wants to save her niece, but she also wants to redeem her and teach her to be a good and decent human, not the messed-up murderer she became. Hopefully, she will be more successful than Bill (Don Diamont) was. Added bonus: we get to see more of Naomi Matsuda.
BTG
HIT: Vernon asks Andre about his intentions. This was an unexpected scene, but a good one. At Orphey Gene’s, Vernon (Clifton Davis) asked Andre to join him and then intensely grilled Andre about his intentions towards Dani (Karla Mosley. Vernon put the photographer on the spot, and it was hilarious.
DAYS
HIT: Susan is a medium in training at MIT. We’re placing an order for more scenes with Stacy Haiduk and Dan Feuerriegel as Susan and EJ. Susan getting her Stefano-is-alive vibes was beyond funny. As was EJ’s reaction to his mother’s loopier actions. At one point, Susan was just going around the room trying to get vibes off of every piece of furniture. It was hilarious. They were hilarious.

GH
HIT: Michael tells Willow about Drew’s interference. Drew was the one to prevent Willow from seeing Michael (Rory Gibson) at the burn clinic in Baden-Baden. And now Willow knows it. We didn’t think that Michael would actually tell her already, but we’re so glad he did. Plus, she’s going to keep finding out things about Drew that will send her over the edge. As a result, it’s understandable why Michael isn’t letting Willow see the kids right now. Her state of mind is precarious.
Y&R
HIT and MISS: Sharon and Nick reconnect. While we approve of the Sharon (Sharon Case) and Nick (Josh Morrow) kiss, it looks like they’re going to take a slow-burn approach from here on out. Why? These two know each other. They know each other’s faults, flaws, failures, and feats. So what’s the problem here?
