Soap Hub looks at the Hits and Misses for the week of July 21-25 in the worlds of Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless, and Beyond the Gates.

Top Ten Hits and Misses

10. MISS: Holly and Ari’s kidnapping (DAYS). Holly (Ashley Puzemis) and Ari (Marissa Reyes) could have compared notes on Doug anywhere. It did serve as a distraction for Tate (Leo Howard), allowing Sophia (Rachel Boyd) to execute her and Melinda’s (Tina Huang) cover story scheme. Ultimately, the kidnapping just didn’t have the emotional impact a dramatic situation like that should have.

9. HIT: Jack contemplates letting go of Billy once and for all (Y&R). Jack (Peter Bergman) showed confidence in Billy (Jason Thompson) and backed his new venture financially. Then, in Nice, Billy decided to flake out in favor of teaming up with Cane (Billy Flynn) to wrestle Chancellor away from the Newmans. This wasn’t what Jack signed up for. As a result, he has decided that his presence in Billy’s life may do more harm than good. So he’s thinking about removing himself from the Billy equation. Hopefully, Jack follows through on this. It’s a smart move to let Billy succeed or fail without anybody there to catch him.

8. MISS: Kat sleeps with Tomas (BTG). We’re not going to lie. This was an upsetting development, especially because it happened not so long after Tomas (Alex Alegria) and Eva (Ambyr Michelle) got it on in her hotel room. The attorney is telling each woman two different things. Plus, he’s trashing Kat (Colby Muhammad) to Eva, and he gaslights her on the regular. Furthermore, they did it on Kat’s couch and not the bed! Nope, we don’t like this for Kat at all.

7. HIT: Doug III and Julie’s unexpectedly emotional goodbye (DAYS). Doug III (Peyton Meyer) had such potential. One of the best parts of the character was his instant connection with Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes). Unfortunately, Doug III and Julie were estranged for the last few months. But as soon as Doug III returned the necklace to its rightful owner, we saw that satisfying bond again. His goodbye to Julie made us unexpectedly emotional, and it made us hope that he returns someday. As long as he gets his act together, of course.

6. MISS: Ivy’s suddenly back and conversing about Liam (B&B). Ivy (Ashleigh Brewer) suddenly popped up at Forrester Creations. She joined everybody in saying that often-repeated refrain that Liam (Scott Clifton) is such an amazing man. She conveyed her interest in him again. But if we don’t see Ivy with any consistency, how are we supposed to root for her with anyone?

5. HIT: Nicole appoints herself Martin’s fixer (BTG). Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) learned the truth about Martin (Brandon Claybon) and decided to make it her mission to support her son as he navigates the hell he’s going through. And bonus: Nicole confronted Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) about the way he handled things. And in the process, she told him that she was the fixer now. Yes, there’s a new Olivia Pope in town.

4. MISS: Willow blames Nina for losing her kids (GH). Nina (Cynthia Watros) should have absolutely told Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) that she and Drew (Cameron Mathison) had this twisted hate sex fling for a few months last year. Willow said if her mom had told her last year that she would have shut Drew down. Would she have? We’re not convinced. Willow blaming Nina was inevitable, but Willow also needs to look in the mirror.

3. HIT: Nick works overtime to make things hard for Ridge (B&B). We’re here for petty Nick (Jack Wagner). His delaying the silk delivery just to get to Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) was hilarious. Don’t get us started on Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) still expecting Ridge to come back to her, however.

2. MISS: Victor takes charge of Chance’s investigation (Y&R). Chance (Conner Floyd) was the cop, but for a while there, you wouldn’t have known it. When Chance suspected Carter (Vincent Stalba) of killing Damian (Jermaine Rivers), he didn’t just let Victor (Eric Braeden) sit in on the questioning. Victor basically took over the questioning, thereby rendering Chance practically invisible. Victor needed to let Chance do his job. And we could have done with fewer “robot freak” references, too.

1. HIT: Portia trashes Willow’s wedding invitation (GH). Portia (Brook Kerr) has entered her unhinged and her ‘I don’t care’ phase. She was done with Drew manipulating and blackmailing her. And though Willow didn’t know about any of this, she sure found out when she brought the wedding invitation to her boss. Portia threw that invite into the trash right in front of Willow. And then proceeded to trash Drew to Willow’s face. Of course, the nurse didn’t listen. But this was such a hilarious scene, it had to be our moment of the week.

Honorable Mentions

B&B

HIT: Eric reminds Ridge that his kids are grown. While Eric (John McCook) harping on a Bridge reunion isn’t ideal, we loved him telling his son that his kids are grown adults, they can live without their parents being together. Facts, Eric. Facts.

BTG

MISS: Shanice is helping Derek with Ashley. Did we hear that right? Did Shanice (Ernestine Johnson) offer to help Derek (Ben Gavin) reunite with Ashley (Jen Jacob)? Uh uh. Not when Shanice and Derek are sparking all over the place. Let’s hope this situation works itself out and Sherek becomes a viable couple. Do they have a cute couple name yet? Denice could work, too.

DAYS

HIT: Kayla stands up to EJ. Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) has a hospital to keep running, and now with EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) as the owner, her stress has multiplied. But there’s no need to worry about her. The way she stood up to EJ this week increased our respect for her.

GH

MISS: Kristina plays puppetmaster. It’s not enough that Kristina (Kate Mansi) won’t leave Ava (Maura West) and Ric (Rick Hearst) alone. She came up with this Cody (Josh Kelly) seduces Ava ploy to implode Ava’s relationship with Ric. Her endgame was to put a stop to their blackmail scheme. That way, Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) would no longer be an embezzling ATM. But now that she has witnessed Cody and her sister Molly (Kristen Vaganos) flirting up a storm, she stepped in to prevent a connection from happening. Boo!

Y&R

MISS: Kyle and Audra. Once again, Kyle (Michael Mealor) gets one over on Audra (Zuleyka Silver). He realized her scheme with Victor, and he lorded it over her in a very smug and arrogant way. Seriously, last time these two tangled, Victor fired Audra from Glissade. This time around, we were hoping for a different result. Her Vibrante is in danger of getting off the ground now. We get that Audra is conniving and out for herself. But who in Genoa City isn’t?
