Soap Hub looks at the Hits and Misses for the week of February 23-27 in the worlds of Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless, and Beyond the Gates.

Key Takeaways

  • Nikki and Diane’s GCAC sparring delivered classic soap fireworks.
  • BTG marked one year with buzzworthy drama and momentum.
  • A kiss and a slow-burn romance landed on the Miss list.

Top 5 Hits

5. Daphne being wise to Ivy (B&B). Ivy (Ashleigh Brewer) has been manipulating Will (Crew Morrow), Electra (Laneye Grace), and Dylan (Sydney Bullock), unchecked, for the last few weeks. And now Daphne (Murielle Hilaire) is wise to her shenanigans. It was great to see her call Ivy out, but Ivy didn’t back down. Daphne said she didn’t wish to get involved in this drama, but we sincerely hope that she does at some point. She could shed light on this situation, which could be resolved if all parties would talk… without Ivy around.

4. The potential of Ari and Liam (DAYS). We have been waiting for Ari (Marissa Reyes) to get a story of her own, and it looks like it’s about to start. Liam (Hank Northrop) and Ari ran into each other while at Small Bar. Sure, the moment was filled with a fake ID and a sudden kiss designed to hide Ari from her mom. But it was also filled with chemistry. We look forward to seeing how this relationship develops.

3. Michael’s showdown with Chase (GH). Michael (Rory Gibson) got called down to the police station. Nathan (Ryan Paevey) wouldn’t even let him drop his kids off at Willow’s. And he was confronted with the fact that a key to Drew’s house was on his keychain. But it turned out that Wiley (Viron Weaver) came through for him. He had spotted Chase (Josh Swickard) with the keys, which muddied up the evidence but good. On top of that, Chase was the one who manipulated Nathan into getting that search warrant. So when Michael got home and confronted Chase, he exploded. They tussled, and Chase walked away with a shiner. Violence is never the answer, but Michael understandably couldn’t take Chase continuing to think he was the one who shot Drew.

2. BTG is officially one year old. The groundbreaking show debuted on February 24, 2025, and is currently in its second season. The past year has been filled with literal gunshot weddings, attempted murders, con artists, plenty of Leslie wigs and aliases, and confrontations at the country club. Entertainment Weekly called BTG one of the ten best shows of the year, saying it was a joy to witness this soap’s birth. Happy First Anniversary to BTG and its cast and crew. Here’s to many more.

1. Nikki and Diane’s bathroom sparring (Y&R). This felt like a classic soap opera moment. At the GCAC, Nikki went to the bathroom, and Diane took the opportunity to follow her in. Diane warned her nemesis to stay away from her husband and to stop with the damsel-in-distress act. Meanwhile, Nikki reminded Diane of how important Jack (Peter Bergman) considered their friendship and that it would never change. The way they talked to each other was casual, classy, and it was pure fun to watch. Kudos to Melody Thomas Scott and Susan Walters. More scenes like this, please.

5. Characters are talked about, not seen (DAYS). Once again, characters are being discussed rather than seen. After Stephanie’s abduction, Jada (Elia Cantu) suddenly mentioned that Shawn (Brandon Beemer) had been looking at security footage, and JJ (Casey Moss) headed out to Smith Island to check the Horton cabin to see if Jeremy (Michael Roark) and Stephanie (Abigail Klein) were there. Unfortunately, we’re not seeing them at all. We’ll undoubtedly see Shawn and JJ soon, but it feels like this should already be happening.

4. Kat’s alone in her fights (BTG). Another Kat-versus-Leslie-and-Eva showdown happened, and, again, Kat (Colby Muhammad) was alone in her fight. Even Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant), who is a deeply flawed, narcissistic woman, has her daughter sticking up for her. Everybody who could stand up for Kat wants her to let go of her grudge, or is busy. It would be nice to see someone stand with Kat when facing Leslie and Eva (Ambyr Michelle).

3. Victor insists on staying mum regarding Lily and the twins (Y&R). Victor’s family is clearly frustrated that he refuses to be transparent about his plans, especially concerning Lily and the twins. If he can’t trust his family, then who can he trust? And if he doesn’t trust them, then why in the world does he think they should trust him? We can’t even be sure that Lily is really on board with his scheme to get Newman Enterprises back. And did Victor give Devon and Nate an answer?

2. Sonny and Justine (GH). You’d think a mobster and a district attorney getting closer would provide dramatic moments and generate a lot of heat. Unfortunately, that’s not what is happening here. Justine (Nazneen Contractor) makes a great attorney, and she seems like someone who can’t be swayed. And Sonny (Maurice Benard) hasn’t had a love interest for a while. GH is going to have to do more to make us care about these two potentially being in a relationship.

1. RJ kisses Electra (B&B). Putting aside the whole cousin aspect of this, that kiss came out of nowhere. Electra was upset. Sure, she made a few leaps in logic, but Ivy’s manipulations were responsible for that. RJ (Brayan Nicoletti) could have simply comforted Electra during her time of need. Why did he feel the need to kiss her? The woman was crying. She didn’t need to move on. She needed to feel what she was feeling.

Honorable Mentions

B&B

MISS: Both sides can’t admit what they need to admit. While we applaud Katie (Heather Tom) striking out and forging her own path at Logan, we need both sides of this feud to make some admissions. That Bill’s bottom-line thinking helped contribute to Eric’s stress. Dollar Bill (Don Diamont) wants Forrester-level fashion but without the cost. And he wants it asap. Meanwhile, Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) can’t see anything that she does or says as wrong. She also enabled Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) when she pacified him. He finally realized forcing Eric (John McCook) to retire was wrong. She needed to let him feel the error of his ways.

BTG

HIT: Anita’s Gayle King interview. Who knew that when THE Anita Williams Dupree (Tamara Tunie) went public, she would do it in such a big way? She flew to New York City and sat down with Gayle King on the set of CBS Mornings. And she gave an interview that, obviously, would go viral. Anita’s Army showed up for the EGOT winner. That interview did its job. It was heartbreaking, uplifting, and educational. It was a well-done crossover. Now, those country club gossips know what’s what.

DAYS

HIT: EJ’s bug game. We loved seeing EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) help during Stephanie’s abduction case. He proved so valuable that he might want to take up a career in pest control. He found a bug in Alex’s (Robert Scott Wilson) and Stephanie’s frame that he allegedly gifted the couple to celebrate their engagement. Plus, he sufficiently locked down the hospital and opened up his lab in the wake of the kidnapping. Of course, he had his reasons for being so helpful, but those reasons worked for Salem this time.

GH

HIT: Gio and Emma. Gio (Giovanni Mazza) has been sulking in Port Charles while his girlfriend, Emma (Braedyn Bruner), has been off breaking the news of Anna’s breakdown to her family. He was this close to getting on a plane and flying to her when Emma opened the door. Their reunion was beautiful and emotional, and they exchanged “I Love Yous.” Gio and Emma are one of our favorite reasons to tune into GH these days.

Y&R

HIT: Audra and Kyle tag-team Noah. Things were going so well. Audra (Zuleyka Silver) and Noah (Lucas Adams) reconnected (again), and there were sparks (again). Then they started talking about the Newman Enterprises takeover. That’s when things got even better. Kyle (Michael Mealor) joined the conversation, and Audra and Kyle found themselves on the same side of the argument. They both relished Victor (Eric Braeden) getting his company stolen out from under him. We’re so over Kyle and Audra’s war that when they teamed up, we realized they are fun when they want to be.
