Soap Hub looks at the Hits and Misses for the week of August 25-29 in the worlds of Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless, and Beyond the Gates.
Top 10 Hits and Misses
10. MISS: Gabi’s love life (DAYS). Gabi Hernandez’s love life is either all over the place or nowhere. Things ended with JJ (Casey Moss), and now they almost never talk. She kissed Xander (Paul Telfer) and slept with Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier). At one point, Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) tried to use Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) to make JJ jealous. Where is this all going? We hope it becomes clear soon.

9. MISS and then HIT: Katie’s advice to Will (B&B). At first, we gave Katie (Heather Tom) a MISS for telling her son to keep what happened the night of his promotion party a secret from Electra (Laneya Grace). Later, we appreciated it when she showed more support for Will (Crew Morrow), got angry, and told him that what happened wasn’t his fault.
8. MISS: Ted can’t buy a clue (BTG). Ted (Keith D. Robinson) thinks he can play hero by keeping Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) from becoming Vernon (Clifton Davis) and Anita’s (Tamara Tunie) across-the-street neighbor by gifting her his house. The house where he lived with Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) for years. He thinks that’s a solid move? Something tells us Nicole’s not going to think so. There’s a reason she’s already slapped Ted…with divorce papers.
7. HIT: Belle and Philip’s friendship (DAYS). Belle’s (Martha Madison) and Philip’s friendship scenes were fun to watch this week. They both are in a phase where they are questioning their life choices and wanting to make better decisions. They joked with each other, opened up to each other, and analyzed each other’s lives. It was refreshing. We’re not sure if Belle and Philip need to reconnect romantically, but their friendship vibes are everything.
6. MISS: Phyllis and Cane train conversations (Y&R). This week, Phyllis and Cane spent a lot of quality train time together talking about Cane’s plan and his kids. Phyllis attempted to offer her brand of advice, and she begged him to reinstate his plan after he told her he dropped it. As good as Billy Flynn and Michelle Stafford are in these scenes, the dialogue tended to get rambly. We did not envy the fact that they had to memorize all of those lines.
5. HIT: Nancy Lee Grahn (GH). We practically grabbed a bucket of popcorn during Alexis’s chat with a tied-up and gagged-up Ric (Rick Hearst). Grahn had so much fun with her dialogue. And it got better when you took into account Ric’s sordid history that included holding Carly (then Tamara Braun) hostage. Alexis even brought that up to Ric. Plus, that bit about finding the gag in Ava’s (Maura West) glove compartment was classic.

4. MISS: Everything has to be right now for Liam and Carter (B&B). The show barely mentions Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) and Hope’s engagement for months, and now that Liam (Scott Clifton) is fine, Carter is all about setting a wedding date asap. Sure, he must sense Liam trying to win back Hope (Annika Noelle). But it’s still a lot. Carter needs to slow his roll a little bit. Same with Liam. He’s so nice while he’s dying. But now that he’s okay, it’s the full court press on reuniting with Hope. And he doesn’t even wait until Hope has disengaged herself from Carter to kiss her. Slow your roll, Liam! He has all the time in the world now that he’s healthy (or at the very least until Hope and Carter say their “I Dos”).
3. HIT: Claire is so over Kyle’s lies (Y&R). We can’t get enough of Claire (Hayley Erin) calling Kyle (Michael Mealor) on his lies. She gave him plenty of chances to come clean, but he didn’t. Now she gets to make him squirm.

2. MISS: Willow is impressed with Drew’s power, and her delusions are strong (GH). Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) potentially getting back with Drew (Cameron Mathison) just to let him play superhero and get her kids back may be her rock bottom. She is impressed with the amount of power he wields. The way she smiled when she told Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) about how Drew kept her away from Michael (Rory Gibson) when she visited him at the burn clinic was creepy. It was the same smile she gave when she heard about Michael and Sasha’s (Sofia Mattsson) suffering after Willow targeted Daisy. Willow’s entering scary territory. It’s tough to watch.
1. HIT: Chelsea is kidnapped, and the whole family pitches in (BTG). This story has the various Duprees — by blood and by marriage — coming together for support, and some of them are taking active roles in tracking Chelsea down. She’s in the clutches of wacky and seriously off-her-rocker Allison. Brianna Roberts is playing unhinged so well. Meanwhile, RhonniRose Mantilla has really stepped up as Chelsea, who’s afraid, confused, and courageous all at the same time. Hopefully, Allison will be found before she can do any real damage. But she’s got that knife out so…
Honorable Mentions
B&B
MISS: Eric and Deacon (B&B). Eric (John McCook) and Deacon (Sean Kanan) are relentless when it comes to hyping up who they want their children to be with. Eric can’t stop pushing for Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) to pick his destiny, Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) over Taylor (Rebecca Budig). And, once again, Deacon is all about Liam over Carter. His reasons are that Carter hurt Hope more recently than Liam has. Okay….

BTG
MISS: Leslie and Hayley make Chelsea’s kidnapping about themselves (BTG). They both had no issue with crashing the Dupree house while the family was in crisis. Leslie was simply Leslie. And why does Hayley (Marquita Goings) feel entitled to be there, whether her husband is there or not? The fact that she wrecked a home to get her man still doesn’t compute with her.

DAYS
MISS: When will we find out why Gwen really came back to town? Gwen (Emily O’Brien) keeps alluding to the fact that there is something that brought her back to Salem other than Julie’s (Susan Seaforth Hayes) necklace. But we still have no clue. Until that story kicks in, all she does is go around town spitting her misery at people, especially Leo (Greg Rikaart). We’re hoping Gwen’s reason for returning to town materializes soon.
GH
MISS: Molly still does not know what Kristina did to her dad. We were hoping for a heated Kristina (Kate Mansi) /Molly (Kristen Vaganos) discussion. Instead, there wasn’t much to it. The confrontation fizzled quickly because it isn’t weird at all that Kristina paid Cody (Josh Kelly) to sleep with Ava because she wanted to break up Ric and Ava for Molly’s sake. The anticipation is real for a proper showdown once Molly finds out Kristina cut her dad’s brakes and now he’s unpleasantly disposed of courtesy of Alexis, Kristina, and Ava.
Y&R
MISS: Where are Cane’s kids? Instead of Cane (Billy Flynn) creating a video for the kids, Mattie and Charlie should have been there. They are grown, and they should be face-to-face with their dad.
