Soap Hub looks at the Hits and Misses for the week of April 7-11 in the worlds of Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless, and Beyond the Gates.

Top 10 Hits and Misses

10. MISS: Natalia confesses to Sonny her link to Sidwell (GH). This moment was anticlimactic. Sonny (Maurice Benard) spied a quick Natalia (Eva LaRue) / Sidwell (Carlo Rota) moment from afar and then confronted her. It wasn’t as dramatic a reveal as it should have been. Plus, Sonny did what he always does when a woman lies to him. He distanced himself, saying he could only let people he trusted into his inner circle. Rinse. Repeat.

9. HIT: Beth Maitland breaks our hearts as Traci (Y&R). Beth Maitland was positively heartbreaking this week as Traci dealt with a suddenly returned “Alan (Christopher Cousins).” Their conversation escalated after Traci suggested they postpone their wedding. Martin (also Christopher Cousins) grew more agitated, affronted, and guessed that something was up. Thankfully, Traci had the wherewithal to alert Jack (Peter Bergman) and Ashley (Eileen Davidson). After Martin left the hotel room, Traci broke down and needed her brother and sister’s support. Maitland killed every performance.

8. MISS: Bill and Hayley witness Dani getting dumped from the First Gen board (BTG). Dani’s (Karla Mosley) bad behavior came back to bite her in the you-know-what when she was unceremoniously and publically removed from the charity’s board. It happened in the middle of the Fairmont Crest Country Club, so Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) and Hayley (Marquita Goings) witnessed the entire interaction and took the opportunity to gloat. That was cold.

7. HIT: Jack Wagner is back as Nick Marone (B&B). The best soap news of the week dropped on Thursday when Jack Wagner’s return to B&B was announced. This means Nick and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) are back on, and Brooke can — at least for now — forget about Ridge (Thorsten Kaye).

6. MISS: Sarah continues the big lie (DAYS). For a second, it looked like Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) would tell Xander (Paul Telfer) about the secret that she’s been keeping. Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier) forged the letter, which gave him half of Titan. Unfortunately, she chickened out. Thankfully, Vivian (Louise Sorel) has returned, and when she doesn’t get what’s hers, she will undoubtedly spill all to Xander.

5. HIT: The Fashion Show (BTG). The show really brings it with the big events. But what we loved the most were individual moments. Dani (Karla Mosley) did a great job hosting. Samantha (Najah Jackson) made her big debut. Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla) got to introduce her new line of bags. But the moment that really hit us was when Chelsea praised her mom in front of the audience (which mainly consisted of their family).

4. MISS: Summer admits she’s still into Kyle (Y&R). We’re here for the Summer (Allison Lanier) and Claire (Hayley Erin) rivalry to continue escalating. But Summer is still harboring feelings for her ex-husband and potentially wants Kyle (Michael Mealor) back; we’re not as sure of that.

3. HIT: Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) decides to have Kristina committed (GH). While we hope Ava’s (Maura West) bank account is replenished sooner rather than later, Diane’s (Carolyn Hennesy) plan of committing Kristina (Kate Mansi) to a mental health facility was a great idea. Kristina is in dire need of intensive in-house therapy. Since this is a soap, it’s clear a character will not do the time even though they did the crime. The next best thing is a trip to a psychiatric clinic. We approve.

2. MISS: Deacon goes all Cobra Kai on Carter (B&B). We get that he wanted to defend his daughter. But Deacon (Sean Kanan) breaking out his black belt karate moves for Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) was hypocritical. He has more anger for Carter than he shows for Sheila (Kimberlin Brown), Liam (Scott Clifton), or Thomas (Matthew Atkinson). So why go all Cobra Kai now? Yell at the man, don’t physically assault him.

1. HIT: Sami tells Johnny her story (DAYS). Sami returned to Salem to be there for her son, who learned how he was conceived. Johnny needed his mother’s presence, and more than that, he needed to hear what happened from her perspective. And Sami didn’t sugarcoat it. She didn’t make herself look better. She gave him the truth and did it in such a way that it got us emotional. Kudos to Alison Sweeney and Carson Boatman for beautifully undertaking these emotional scenes. Also, bonus for Sweeney, who had to memorize a lot of dialogue. Those kinds of long scenes don’t happen often in today’s soap universe.

Honorable Mentions

B&B

HIT: Carter isn’t giving up on Hope yet. We may be speaking prematurely, but it’s not a good look when someone experiences a breakup and starts another relationship immediately. Daphne (Murielle Hilaire) is after Carter big time, but nothing has happened yet. He’s still pining for Hope (Annika Noelle), which is realistic. Look at Ridge, who wasted no time walking out on Brooke and starting things up with Taylor (Rebecca Budig).
MISS: Liam asks Steffy to keep his illness a secret. This show loves its characters to hide their illnesses. Eric (John McCook) did it. Taylor did it, too. Now, it’s Liam’s turn, and, honestly, we’re not sure why he’s choosing to keep his brain bleed or whatever is going on with him a secret.

BTG

HIT: The men corner Tomas at the fashion show. What a great moment. We almost felt bad for Tomas (Alex Alegria) as the male Duprees made their presence known, and they made their love for Kat (Colby Muhammad) known. They do not want Tomas to hurt her in any way. This might have been a little too real for Tomas.
MISS: Shanice needs to be more suspicious of Lulu the nurse. Shanice (Ernestine Johnson) was suspicious of Lulu (Trisha Mann-Grant), the new nursing transfer. Shanice is like GH’s Amy Vining (the late Shell Kepler). She’s in everybody’s business and is a bit of a gossip. So why didn’t she follow through? This fierce supervising nurse is smart enough to know Lulu didn’t belong on that floor checking patient files.

DAYS

HIT: Titan takes over DiMera. While Salem’s business stories aren’t our favorite DAYS stories, we’re glad that somebody in this Titan versus DiMera war was successful. Kristen has been so distracted lately that it’s easy to see how Xander and Philip could execute this coup and take over the DiMera legacy. God help those two when Kristen et al. aren’t so distracted.
MISS: Belle admits she loves EJ. Belle (Martha Madison) and EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) do have chemistry. However, their dynamic feels electrifying yet toxic. Not feeling “love” just yet.

GH

HIT: Jordan going undercover to work for Sidwell. For a second, it seemed like nothing was going to happen with Jordan (Tanisha Harper) going undercover. Next thing you know, she’s asking Laura (Genie Francis) to fire her so she can give Sidwell a reason why she would take him up on his offer of making her liaison or lobby for his interests. Can’t wait to see this unfold.
MISS: Joss is already a WSB field agent. She sparred and trained for what a month? Maybe less? And Joss (Eden McCoy) is already going into the field on a case? It might have been better if Joss was off the canvas for a few months and then showed back up in Port Charles all badass.

Y&R

HIT: Alan is Martin. While we were all for Traci and Alan living happily ever after, that isn’t what happened. Instead, Alan is dead? Or somewhere indisposed? And Martin is the one that has been in a relationship with Traci. Chance (Conner Floyd) actually arrested the right guy this time. Sharon (Sharon Case) and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) confronted Martin and exposed him, which was great.
MISS: The climax of the Alan-is-Martin story wrapped up too quickly. This week’s scenes were so good we’re sad that Martin is already in police custody.
