Soap Hub looks at the Hits and Misses for the week of April 28-May 2 in the worlds of Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless, and Beyond the Gates.

Top 10 Hits and Misses

10. MISS: Leo accuses his roommate, Gabi, of shooting EJ (DAYS). Leo (Greg Rikaart) accusing Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) of shooting EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) while also being a guest in her house was particularly rude. He’s an investigative reporter, so he should investigate and find the evidence first. And, no, rifling through her purse wasn’t cool either.

9. HIT: Billy fires Phyllis (Y&R). Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) really gave Billy (Jason Thompson) no choice. She was unrelenting in bringing Daniel (Michael Graziadei) into Abbott Communications, even though Daniel didn’t want anything to do with the company. But Phyllis refuses to back down and give him space. While we didn’t love Billy’s bluntness and harshness, it was the right thing to do.

8. MISS: Hayley relishes Bill’s gossip about Ted (BTG). Hayley (Marquita Goings) was downright giddy to find out from Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) that Ted (Maurice Johnson) cheated on Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix). She treated it like a game as she guessed Ted’s fall from grace. We get that she resents the Duprees, but that was a little much.

7. HIT: Hope emerges from the fog and realizes the coup was wrong (B&B). Well, Hope (Annika Noelle) keeps saying she now realizes the way she and Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) dealt with their unhappiness with Forrester was wrong. Not sure what took her so long, but she understands Carter’s guilt that weighed on him. We’ll see if this epiphany will reunite them. They seem close to it.

6. MISS: Joss steals Emma’s school project (GH). Per her WSB assignment, Joss (Eden McCoy) needs to get that summer research assistant assignment by hook or by crook. After all, she started Dalton’s (Daniel Goddard) class late, and he’s had time to designate favorites for the role. On top of his list was Emma (Braedyn Bruner). Stealing her work to presumably turn it in as her own was a step too far. This doesn’t bode well for their tentative friendship.

5. HIT: Shawn pitches Steve a heist to save Bo (DAYS). Shawn (Brandon Beemer) suggested to Steve (Stephen Nichols) that they should steal the drug that could help cure Bo’s (Peter Reckell) sepsis. This comes after the Salem doctor, who developed the drug, denied giving it to them. Planning a heist was a nice, proactive move that we’re happy Shawn made. It instantly spiced up his character and could provide drama between Shawn and Police Commissioner Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu) down the road.

4. MISS: Taylor and Brooke locked up together (B&B). At Forrester Creation’s fashion show, Taylor (Rebecca Budig), the renowned psychiatrist, acted insecure while Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang), who was about to wear the showstopper, acted smug. Locking up the two should have created a lot of fun, dramatic moments, but it didn’t. However, the rest of the fashion show was well-executed, and Brooke in the showstopper caused great drama for Brooke, Taylor, Ridge (Thorsten Kaye), and Eric (John McCook).

3. HIT: Brook Lynn comes clean to Tracy about the adoption (GH). After Brook Lynn blurted to her grandmother about the baby she gave up for adoption in high school, the conversation that ensued was emotional, supportive, and riveting. Jane Elliot and Amanda Setton work so well together.

2. MISS: Chelsea and Sally ditching Marchetti to work with their boyfriends (Y&R). Clearly, there’s a transition happening on Y&R. The show seems to like pitting Billy and Sally (Courtney Hope) against Adam (Mark Grossman) and Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan). But we enjoyed Sally and Chelsea being fashion titans in their own right at Marchetti. Now they’ll be spending even more time with their respective boyfriends. Will they spend all their time reining in Billy and Adam? Let’s hope not.

1. HIT: Ted and Nicole’s anniversary party (BTG). This is how you do an event. Ted and Nicole’s anniversary party became the site of a murder. Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) may possibly have murdered Ted and Nicole’s marriage as she revealed truths that sent the Duprees and Richardsons reeling. The family will be dealing with the fallout for a long time. It was soap at its finest, and the actors all stepped up with great performances. They understood the assignment.

Honorable Mentions

B&B

HIT: Steffy’s insistent that Hope needs to know about Liam. It’s been so long since Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) felt any sort of empathy for Hope that we were taken aback when she insisted to Liam that he tell her the truth about his health. Of course, Liam (Scott Clifton) didn’t listen to her, but she is in the right here, which will undoubtedly set up some good Steffy/Hope scenes in the future.
HIT and MISS: Eric creates a showstopper moment for the fashion show. Brooke was a hit in that dress. She looked gorgeous, and while she did turn Ridge’s head, that shouldn’t have been what it was about. Yes, it was the Portofino dress, but now Brooke thinks her destiny with Ridge is back on, and we’re hoping that’s far from the truth, especially since Nick Marone (Jack Wagner) is on his way back to Los Angeles.

BTG

HIT: Trisha Mann-Grant as Leslie Thomas. Thanks to Trisha Mann-Grant, Leslie Thomas ruled the roost at Ted and Nicole’s anniversary party. She delivered her dialogue so deliciously. You could tell she was having fun. Leslie looked fierce, her words were fiery, and they destroyed the room. She told her truth. And she’s not done. Mann-Grant was simply amazing.
HIT: The brownie callback. Earlier in the week, we couldn’t figure out why Leslie gave Martin (Brandon Claybon) and Vernon (Clifton Davis) a brownie when she talked to them at Orphey Gene’s. Well, it turns out that when she and Ted were having their affair, Ted would show up at the restaurant where she worked with Martin in tow. And she would give the kid brownies while she and Ted spent quality time together. Magnificent callback.

DAYS

HIT: New headwriters are mixing things up. One thing we’ve noticed since the new DAYS head writers, Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford, took over is that we’re getting scenes featuring unexpected interactions. Gabi has already conflicted with Brady (Eric Martsolf) and Xander (Paul Telfer), and at the fundraiser, she paid for a date with Alex (Robert Scott Wilson). Xander just offered Johnny (Carson Boatman) a job. And Shawn and Steve are planning a heist. It’s awesome.
MISS: Johnny pulling out of the adoption was beyond cold. Johnny hearing the news about his father raping his mother was monumental and devastating. And it’s understandable that it would change everything. But calling off the adoption and being so adamant about it instead of really taking the time to talk about it and hash it out was cold. He was ready to be a father weeks ago, and now he’s not. The man needs therapy.

GH

HIT and MISS: Drew’s downfall. Nina (Cynthia Watros) and Portia (Brook Kerr) collaborating on this plan was wonderful. Carly’s (Laura Wright) approval of Nina’s work was great, too. However, we didn’t love that it involved slipping Drew (Cameron Mathison) a drug, but in the end, he made a public spectacle. Couldn’t the show have given the audience a while to savor the damage done? But Drew has already talked Willow into going along with him to the hospital, where ketamine was discovered in his system. Let’s hope Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) doesn’t become Stepford girlfriend again so quickly.

Y&R

HIT: Mariah returns, and she’s in trouble. It’s great how Y&R is, once again, utilizing Mariah (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa (Cait Fairbanks). Mariah was off on a work trip, and when she returned, something was wrong. She opened up to Sharon (Sharon Case), saying she did something bad while she was on the road. It showed that there were consequences of Ian Ward’s latest escapades, at least for Mariah. While away, she spiraled, got drunk, and did something that she won’t tell her wife about. We’re excited to see where this goes.
MISS: Billy craps all over Diane’s Abbott Mansion refresh. What was that? Does Billy have to be so dour all the time? Is he the only one who gets to take on self-help projects? It’s okay to have a negative reaction, and Diane (Susan Walters) was right; she asked for his opinion. But he could have said what he said more delicately. But with Billy, he flings his opinions as facts, and he doesn’t hold back. He even said he was surprised Jack (Peter Bergman) liked the renovations. Wow.
