Soap Hub looks at the Hits and Misses for the week of April 14-18 in the worlds of Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless, and Beyond the Gates.

Top 10 Hits and Misses

10. MISS: Encouraging Brooke to wait for Ridge (B&B). We enjoyed the scenes where Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) supported each other (see our honorable mentions). However, the fact that Carter and Katie (Heather Tom) were cool with Brooke waiting for Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) is madness. The guy dropped her like a hot potato during the coup business and didn’t wait a second before reconnecting with Taylor (Rebecca Budig). Encourage her to move on, not to wait for her destiny.

9. MISS: Dante’s friends don’t show up to his birthday (GH). This was Dante’s (Dominic Zamprogna) first birthday without Sam (ex-Kelly Monaco), and he needed the support. It was great that most of his family were there, but Cody (Josh Kelly), Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton), and Chase (Josh Swickard) should have been there despite the huge secret they’re keeping from Dante.

8. MISS: Rafe thinks his and Jada’s sins are equal (DAYS). Rafe (Galen Gering) wrongly concluded that Jada (Elia Cantu) and Shawn (Brandon Beemer) were sleeping together again. He refused to talk with Shawn or Jada before feeling justified in sleeping with Sami (Alison Sweeney). Then he basically acted like he and Jada were even, so they should work things out. Nope. Jada thought Arnold (also Galen Gering) was Rafe. After the wedding interruptus, she was devastated and humiliated when she slept with Shawn. Not the same energy.

7. HIT: Ava gets her divorce settlement back (GH). Unfortunately, Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) had to endanger her career and her freedom to do it. But we don’t like a broke Ava (Maura West). Having said that, we don’t buy that Kristina (Kate Mansi) was scared straight after trying to kill Ava and accidentally hurting Ric (Rick Hearst) and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). Is there a way Ava can keep the money, and Kristina gets committed so she can get the help she so desperately needs?

6. MISS: Victoria warns Nick about staying away from Sharon and her drama (Y&R). Where is Victoria (Amelia Heinle) even coming from? Has Sharon (Sharon Case) been put through the wringer? Yes. While Nick (Joshua Morrow) has been entrenched in her mounds and mounds of drama, they simply want to take a break and go see Noah (ex-Rory Gibson). No drama. Victoria can concentrate on work and wonder when in the world Cole (J. Eddie Peck) is returning. Thank you.

5. HIT: Sheila and Poppy fight (B&B). This was a bit of a guilty pleasure. Obviously, we don’t condone violence, but we are for anything that shows Sheila’s dark side rearing its ugly but much-needed head. Also, we have mad respect for Poppy (Romy Park), who stood up to Sheila (Kimberlin Brown).

4. MISS: Hayley might be pregnant (BTG). It hasn’t been confirmed, but it’s something that could happen. Hayley (Marquita Goings) is late, after all. While this story would be appropriately messy and create a boatload of drama, it’s just too soon. And not to make it about somebody else, but Dani (Karla Mosley) can’t take another hit right now.

3. HIT: Xander and Philip break up but admit they loved being brothers (DAYS). Vivian (Louise Sorel) outed Philip’s secret to Xander (Paul Telfer). Together, they forged the letter that allowed Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier) to stake a claim on half of Titan and Victor’s inheritance. Xander was rightly upset and kicked his half-brother out. But not before telling Philip how much he enjoyed working with him. Philip, in turn, said the same thing. We really enjoyed Philip and Xander working together in harmony. And saving their ire for DiMera. Hopefully, this rift won’t last.

2. HIT: Tyrell’s cyberbullying crisis puts the spotlight on Martin and Smitty’s family (BTG). We loved how Tyrell’s cyberbullying drama highlighted Martin and Smitty’s family. Samantha (Najah Jackson) had her brother’s back the whole time. Martin (Brandon Claybon) tried to control the situation, and in this case, he was right to do so. And Smitty (Mike Manning) worked on keeping everyone talking and calm. Plus, we heard a little more about the teens’ troubled background, and Tyrell (Jaden Lucas Miller) got a visit from one of his fellow students, which was great to see.

1. HIT: Traci, Sharon, and Phyllis get closure of sorts (Y&R). It was just nice to see the women, whom Martin (Christopher Cousins) hurt the most, gather together and talk out their feelings. It was such a supportive sight, and they will feel the pain of this experience for a long time. What happened to them was twisted, but something tells us that Traci (Beth Maitland), Sharon (Sharon Case), and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) will be stronger for having survived such a painful ordeal.

Honorable Mentions

B&B

HIT: Brooke and Carter support each other (B&B). There was a little chemistry going on in these scenes, but that wasn’t what it was about. They were the outsiders embedded in the Forrester world. It was nice that Brooke and Carter could turn to each other to make sense of what they were feeling. If only Carter encouraged Brooke to forget about Ridge…
MISS: Bridget pops up — where has she been? It’s great to see Bridget (Ashley Jones) involved in this Liam (Scott Clifton) brain bleed story, but where has she been? Is she often working at the hospital off-screen while drama goes down with her family? Does she work at two hospitals — one in Los Angeles and one in New York? What’s the deal?

BTG

HIT: Joey’s plans for Vanessa. Joey (Jon Lindstrom) finally revealed why he wants to get close to the married Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli). It’s her real estate firm. He wants to use it to launder his money. But we also suspect he has real feelings for her, her money, and her influence. She’s definitely attracted to him, so this association could get messy.
MISS: The brand product placement. We get why these product placements are part of the show, and it’s cool. Just wish the show could incorporate them so much more smoothly.

DAYS

HIT: Marlena and Steve get one up on Orpheus. Thankfully, Marlena (Deidre Hall) and Steve (Stephen Nichols) didn’t fall for Orpheus’s (George DelHoyo) shenanigans. He lied, of course. Then, he thought he could get her to bust him out of ISA custody in order to find John (the late Drake Hogestyn). Nope — Marlena and Steve were on to him, and luckily, Andrew (Colton Little) and the ISA were able to decrypt an important file and learn the location of where John is.
MISS: Gabi is offended that JJ questioned her about EJ’s shooting. We just don’t think Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) should have been shocked. Maybe JJ (Casey Moss) shouldn’t have been the one to do the interrogation, but Gabi shouldn’t have been so angry. Now their relationship is up in the air.

GH

HIT: Jordan publicly resigns from her deputy mayorship. We have been waiting for the Jordan (Tanisha Harper) undercover story to heat up, and it finally did this week, and in such a public way. Good for Jordan. May she get the goods on Sidwell (Carlo Rota)!
Preemptive MISS: If Joss gets that research assistant position. Emma (Braedyn Bruner) seems the natural fit, and Joss (Eden McCoy) is the WSB interloper here. Maybe the WSB should read Emma in on this case, and then she and Joss can team up to bring down this guy.

Y&R

HIT: Holden and Claire flirt again. So, Y&R showed Holden (Nathan Owens) and Claire (Hayley Erin) flirting, drinking, and conversing again, and we weren’t mad at it. However, we need more evidence, please.
MISS: We didn’t see the Traci/Amy dinner. Sure, the OG actress (Stephanie E. Williams) isn’t playing Amy (Valarie Pettiford), but we still would have loved to see Amy and Traci reconnect and have a nice dinner before Traci left for New York.
