The holidays bring TV specials and, in recent years, pre-empted soaps. In fact, it’s almost a given that several soaps won’t air on major holidays, Christmas included.
Well, not in 2018. Three out of four soaps will be airing an all-new Christmas episode. So, expect to see first-runs of Days of Our Lives, The Young and the Restless, and The Bold and the Beautiful.
However, General Hospital will be running a classic episode from Christmas of 1997 on December 24, featuring the start of the Michael paternity story after Carly gave birth and lied that her baby’s father was Jason.
This Christmas, Michael is all grown up and fell for someone much like his mother way back when and is lying about their baby, claiming he died.
On December 25, GH is pre-empted for ABC sports.
On New Year’s Eve, GH will run a 1997 NYE episode, and on New Year’s Day ABC sports programming will air again. The other soaps have first-run episodes as usual.
