EXCLUSIVE: Chrishell Stause Talks Love, Soaps, and Her New Film

It was her role as Amanda Dillon on All My Children that made Chrishell Stause a household name to soap fans.

Successful stints as Jordan on Days of Our Lives, and most recently, as Bethany on The Young and the Restless have solidified Stause in the hearts of many – but no one as much as her fiancé, the recently departed Y&R star Justin Hartley.

Now, the two have an exciting new film called Another Time that’s in post-production. Soap Hub spoke with the popular actress about her new roles – in the film and as fiancée – and a few old ones.

Another Time – On the Set
Shooting a film can be very different from acting on a soap. “With a soap opera, you almost never know what is in store for your character and have to adapt as the story changes and unfolds,” she shared. “Shooting the film was a nice change to have a definite beginning, middle, and end to the story. It makes it easier to figure out who your character is and why they do what they do.”

In the film, she plays a character named Julia Practor. “She has just lost her father and inherited his company. She has huge decisions to make both in her career path and in her love life.” So does the actress identify with her? “She is a great character, however, her choices are not exactly what I would have done, but that’s the fun of acting!”

Filming Opposite Hartley
So, was it hard to film with someone she’s romantically involved with? “I absolutely LOVE working with Justin. When it comes to a caring, smart, hard-working actor, they just don’t get any better. There is such an ease when you are working with him, because you know he will take care of you. You are free to completely be in the scene. It’s a gift he has as an actor to bring the absolute best out of people and the scene.”

On the Run…
Now that Bethany has taken the $3 million from Victor (Eric Braeden), have we seen the last of the actress on The Young and the Restless? “Bethany I am afraid is out enjoying her 3mil! Time will tell with her, you never know what’s up their sleeves at Y&R. But leaving town on Victor’s instructions was exactly how I would have wanted to go, so it was great!”

How was it working with the legendary Braeden? “Eric is such a daytime icon, and I really loved working with him. He was nothing but gracious and kind.”

Clyde Is on the Loose
On Days of Our Lives, she played Jordan Ridgeway, sister to Batty Ben and step-daughter to Crazy Clyde. With Clyde returning next week, will Jordan factor in at all? The actress was candid with us. “I can say that there are no plans right now to bring Jordan back to the DAYS canvas. But, I do think it would be interesting to bring Jordan back as a thorn in Clyde’s side. I love having open-ended characters because anything is possible!”

In the Beginning
“All My Children was easily my favorite thing I’ve ever done because it was my first job and I was on the show almost seven years when it ended.” Amanda Dillon was the spunky daughter of Trevor (James Kiberd) and a breath of fresh air in Pine Valley.

“I feel like I grew up there and made lifelong friends. I’m still very close to several people I met there from cast to crew. That show was different than others in that it was truly like a family instead of a job with colleagues. I still feel so lucky to have been a part of it.”

We asked Stause what she thinks would have happened to her character if the show were still on today. “I like to imagine she would be the inappropriate mom at the PTA meetings embarrassing her kids — the mom that shows up in pink leopard and platform shoes. A super loving mother, just a bit of a mess!” laughed the actress.

About That Wedding…
So now that she and Hartley are engaged, we asked if there were any details she could let us in on.

“Well, we are really excited, but still in the stage of throwing around ideas. We still have quite a lot of wedding planning to do, but I’m not stressed about it. Finding the man of my dreams was the hard part, planning a wedding will be easy!” Isn’t that the truth!
