While The Gates won’t make its grand debut on CBS Daytime until early 2025, the network kicks its Fall Daytime Lineup into gear with intel on its two powerhouse soaps, The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful. Plus, this preview includes veteran game shows Price is Right and Let’s Make a Deal.

The Soaps

CBS has been the highest-rated network in daytime for the last 38 years. While soaps are pretty much a 24/7, 365-days-a-year business, they, too, have new season premiere dates and, of course, milestone anniversaries.

The Young and the Restless
New Season: Thursday, October 3

Synopsis Highlights:

  • CBS announced that for Y&R’s 52nd year, there will be plenty of suspense, romance, and, of course, rivalries.
  • Once again, Victor (Eric Braeden) and Jack’s legendary soap rivalry takes center stage as Victor hits Jack (Peter Bergman) where it hurts the most
  • Meanwhile, Sharon (Sharon Case) continues to be haunted by her past, which will lead her to channel her dark side.
  • Abby (Melissa Ordway) and Devon (Bryton James), who are set to marry this fall, face an unexpected obstacle.
  • Milestones: The show will celebrate its historic 13,000th episode while Michelle Stafford and Sharon Case both celebrate their 30th anniversaries. And, yes, there will be special episodes dedicated to their characters.

Here’s the full synopsis:

CBS’ longest-running scripted series, The Young and the Restless, continues with its 52nd season on Thursday, Oct. 3, its 37th year as Daytime’s #1 drama. This fall, suspense, romance, and rivalries take center stage as Victor (Eric Braeden) hits Jack (Peter Bergman) where it hurts the most when his plan of attack divides the Abbott family. Sharon (Sharon Case — Y&R’s August Performer of the Month) is haunted by her past, leading her to visit her dark side, while Abby (Melissa Ordway) and Devon (Bryton James) face an unexpected obstacle as they plan their November wedding. On Nov. 13, the show will mark its historic 13,000th episode, and in addition, this fall, cast members Sharon Case and Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers) will both celebrate their 30th anniversaries with special episodes dedicated to their characters.

  • Will Bill (Don Diamont) and Katie (Heather Tom) reunite?
  • Milestone: Don Diamont celebrates 40 years on daytime.
