Add John McCook’s name to the list of soap opera stars who’ve been hacked by fake account holders. The Bold and the Beautiful cast member recently tweeted a warning about a big phony!
McCook, who’s played Eric Forrester, patriarch of the half hour soap since its inception, says he’s only on Twitter so fans should instantly be wary of Instagram accounts claiming to be him.
Also, this fake account is asking followers for money, so McCook wants his supporters to know he’s not behind it and that also they should call the police if they’re asked to contribute!
Check out McCook’s post below to get the info you need to avoid being scammed! The show’s official Twitter account has also sent out a warning so that fans don’t fall prey to a fake account.
Other soap stars who’ve experienced the same type of money scam include The Young and the Restless stars Daniel Goddard (Cane) and Kristoff St. John (Neil).
But, these scams haven’t been limited to people trying to make a buck. Other hacked or impersonated actors include Ryan Paevey (ex-Ryan, GH), Doug Davidson (Paul, Y&R), and Stephen Nichols (ex-Steve, DAYS).
private__johnmccook is a FAKE Instagram account. Block it. This person is asking for money to visit B&B. I am NOT on Instagram…Report any personal contact for money to local police.
