ABC Talks All My Children And One Life To Live Reboots

Since both All My Children and One Life to Live left the airwaves in 2011 and 2012, respectively, talk of bringing both soaps back never ended.

In fact, for a while both were back in online form, produced by Prospect Park studios. The online reboots just weren’t the same, although it brought back so many of your favorite characters.

ABC itself took some of the characters and moved them to Port Charles and General Hospital, but then Prospect Park sued, claiming they owned the characters. It took several years, but in late 2016 a judge gave ABC back ownership of both soaps.

Since then, one very prominent One Life to Live character, Nora Buchanan (Hillary B. Smith), made some appearances on GH, while there have been whispers of adding more or even rebooting the shows themselves.

Now, ABC Entertainment President Karey Burke is not dismissing that idea at all.

According to the March 4, 2019 print edition of Soap Opera Digest, Burke was both positive about the future of GH, and of the possibility of a full soap lineup once again on ABC.

“There might be some conversation about that,” she said at the recent Television Critics Association press tour. “There might be.”

It would make sense in that the Good Morning America afternoon extension (which airs when All My Children once aired in many markets), Strahan and Sara, hosted an AMC reunion with Susan Lucci among the guests.

It was a hit with fans, and gave hope to longtime soap viewers they can see these beloved characters continue their fictional but fabulous lives again.
