Dancing With the Stars hasn’t had a soap celebrity on since season 19 in 2014 when Antonio Sabato Jr. (ex-Jagger, General Hospital; ex-Dante, The Bold and the Beautiful) competed on the dance-reality series. But don’t blame the show for that. It turns out one familiar PC face actually turned the show down when invited to participate!
“They have asked, and we said ‘no,'” Ryan Paevey (Nathan, GH) reveals to Soap Hub.
Why did the handsome actor turn down the opportunity to appear shirtless each week in prime time and compete for the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy first won by his GH co-star Kelly Monaco (Sam)?
“I’m an atrocious dancer,” Paevey says with a smile. “Anyone who watches GH will attest to that! I am just so bad at it. Also, it’s just not something I enjoy.”
But, as Monaco has said, the show is not just about dancing. It’s about going on a journey with a dance pro partner and trusting that person to help teach you something and take you out of your comfort zone.
“That all sounds lovely,” Paevey genuinely says. “But I think I’m okay if that doesn’t happen to me.”
So, who does he think would be a viable candidate for the show when it next returns?
“I’ll go with Finola [Hughes, Anna] and my buddy Anthony [Montgomery, Andre],” suggests Paevey. “He was a dancer and has had training. He and Finola have danced on [GH]. They know their stuff!”
