When he first appeared on General Hospital, Jake Doe was presumed to be Jason. That lasted for a couple of years. He “remarried” Sam (Kelly Monaco). They had a daughter, Scout. He grew closer to “his” and Elizabeth’s son, Jake.
But then Original Recipe Jason (Steve Burton) returned, and NuJason became Drew (Billy Miller). The problem was, Drew still didn’t know who he used to be. His memories had been overwritten with Jason’s. It’s why he didn’t remember the relationship with Kim (Tamara Braun), which produced Oscar (Garren Stitt).
And then — great news! Drew’s lost memories were available on a flash drive (go with it). Drew declined to get them back as that would erase his memories of Scout and the now-dead Oscar.
So, the memories were downloaded into Franco (Roger Howarth) thanks to a convoluted story about stolen Afghanistanian money involving Shiloh, of course. And Drew left town. Which means fans are finally getting the answers they’ve sought all these years — via Franco. Happy? Gypped? What over 10,000 fans said:
The Real Deal
For 88% of you, it’s a major gyp. You loved Drew and wanted to learn more about Drew. You didn’t want to see Franco acting like the Drew you didn’t even know with an odd accent RealDrew doesn’t have. (Franco, Jason, and Drew ALL grew up in Upstate New York, so please explain this accent, GH.)
Especially since Franco isn’t even acting like the Drew you’d grown to love! It would have been one thing with Billy Miller’s face, but with Roger Howarth it’s like a completely different character — FranckenDrew or Dranco — take your pick.
And Now For Something Completely Different
Soap fans always complain about seeing the same old story over and over and over again. Well, here is something different. We’ve never seen anything exactly like this before, and 12% of the audience is on board!
Plus, it’s not like Franco’s old personality was that great, or so some Port Charles bigwigs say. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
