There are reports circulating online that William deVry may not sign his contract when it is up for renewal in less than six months.
The popular General Hospital actor is reportedly considering his options as he juggles several irons in the fire. According to the January 30 issue of Soaps In Depth, when asked if he would re-sign with the show, deVry was a bit cagey.
“You have to cross that bridge as the world unfolds before you — that’s all you can do in daytime.”
He has an excellent point. This summer, it seemed like his character, Julian Jerome, had been written into a corner. No one would have been surprised if the character had been found guilty of all of his crimes and sent away to prison.
But since it is a soap opera, Julian managed to skate on all charges. Add to that it seems like he was being manipulated into this bad behavior and voila – the character may have a new lease on life.
Julian isn’t the only one who has more options available to him now. The actor has a few outside projects going on well. The biggest one is a collaboration with the woman in his life, Rebecca Staab (ex-Elizabeth, Port Charles; ex-April, Y&R), on a film called Snapshots. The film is set to be directed by former Thirtysomething star, Melanie Mayron.
In the meantime, the actor is thrilling GH fans, especially those who love Julexis, his pairing with Nancy Lee Grahn’s Alexis. Things should also really kick into high gear starting tomorrow when the woman who is pulling Julian’s strings, played by Tonja Walker, is revealed. Is that enough to make him stay?
“In the meantime, if I can do outside work while I’m on GH, I’m happy to.”
