It’s all about the memories if your character has ever been called Jason on General Hospital (GH).
In 1996, Jason Quartermaine woke with no memories at all after a car accident (or maybe he was switched with his twin–we are not ruling out that theory) and became Jason Morgan. And, in 2014, a man arrived in town who we thought was Jason Morgan, but he also had no memories at all after a car accident.
Port Charles knew that man as Jake Doe for over a year (well, a few people believed he was Jason), and for the last two years, he had Jason’s DNA and Jason’s memories, so sure, he was Jason.
But, then Steve Burton decided to make his GH return and Billy Miller is still an extremely popular actor, so the soap was left with an abundance of wealth with TWO Jasons.
So, one had to be a twin we never knew existed, and Miller’s character is now Drew Cain–with Jason Morgan’s memories and memories of his own from the last three years.
We also know his own memories exist in a disco ball somewhere, which is actually rather hilarious, but why not? They’re contained on a flash drive just like Ava’s murder confession, so it may be a while till anyone tracks that flash drive down. But, oh when they do, we think we know what happens.
Drew gets his memories back of his childhood either in an orphanage or maybe in the Q house, cause we still love that theory, as we said. But, he also remembers being a Navy SEAL–and loving Kim. However, he does NOT remember Sam (Kelly Monaco), which then becomes a story unto itself.
What if the last three years just disappear from his mind when all his own memories are put back? That will either leave Sam heartbroken or relieved. After all, if Drew doesn’t remember her or even need her, she is free to be with Jason. Since her mind can’t stop fantasizing about Jason, that might not be a bad thing.
Would Drew have to fall in love with Sam all over again? Will Sam once again be left with a man she has memories of who doesn’t remember her? After all, that’s what she thought was happening when she first thought he was Jason.
It’s not an implausible theory and would certainly be more interesting than Sam having to make a choice if the choice is made for her in the end.
General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
