Wild Speculation: Will Mad Scientist Liesl Save Franco on General Hospital?

On Tuesday’s episode of General Hospital, Peter seemingly joked with Maxie that it might take a ‘mad scientist’ to bring back Franco’s memories. Lucky for Franco, Port Charles just happens to have one handy in Liesl Obrecht, who also just so happens to consider Franco her best friend.

The friendship of Liesl (Kathleen Gati) and Franco (Roger Howarth) has always been odd but incredibly delightful. Who can forget their duet at the Nurses Ball, singing the Barbra Streisand-Barry Gibb hit, Guilty? They totally slayed it, and it certainly summed them both up perfectly. They were two outcasts who found something in each other.

So it was heartbreaking to watch as Liesl learned from Carly (Laura Wright) of all people what has happened to Franco — that he has lost all of his memories. Franco was the one person Liesl could count on (even when she whacked him over the head) whenever she needed a friend.

So, now that she’s lost her one true sounding board, there are few as motivated — or as talented — to help Franco to get his memories back. And what better way for Liesl to redeem herself in the eyes of those cynics in Port Chuck who feel she has no positive qualities and should be locked up?

But how would this all go down? It’s not like Dranco would trust her enough to let her do something? He has no idea who she is. Could Liesl end up partnering up with someone to kidnap Dranco so she could run some crazy experiment to get him back?

What about Liz (Rebecca Herbst)? Possibly even Drew (Billy Miller). But chances are neither of them would trust her (though a desperate Liz might not care). This seems more like it would be up Maxie’s (Kirsten Storms) alley. And she could rope in Peter (Wes Ramsey) — especially since he is the cause of so much of this mess.

Sure, Peter and Liesl have a cold peace between them after she terrorized him. But he also must have feelings of guilt for his part in all of this. He just might be the perfect person to work with Liesl to bring back Franco. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
