It felt like this General Hospital story was abandoned more times than we can count, but it also looks like our theory was correct: Nina’s baby didn’t die during her 20-year coma.
Of course, Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) is getting this information from Madeline (Donna Mills), so it’s slightly suspect.
However, he didn’t confront her without reason. He did the math. During the first eight months of Nina’s (Michelle Stafford) coma, she was NOT in Crichton-Clark Clinic. So, she had to be somewhere.
And during those eight months, it seems logical that her child was gestating right in Madeline’s upscale NYC apartment, perhaps.
So, if we just go with it here and assume Madeline is not lying, then Nina has a daughter. And if GH does this story the way a soap should, that daughter is right there in plain sight living in Port Charles.
Of course, the most obvious suspect is Kiki. Nina would have given birth to Silas Clay’s daughter. Kiki is (as far as we know) Silas Clay’s daughter.
Madeline paid Ava (Maura West) to have an affair with Silas and both she and Nina got pregnant. The story goes Nina’s baby died and Ava’s baby is Kiki.
But what if Ava’s baby died and Madeline gave her Nina’s daughter? It would explain why these two women have such a harsh mother-daughter relationship and would betray in each other in a heartbeat (but then feel guilt).
That’s been the theory ever since Nina arrived on the scene, and we learned she was pregnant when she went into that coma.
However, some feel that’s just too obvious, so why not go with the less obvious? Celeste DeAstis actually came on the GH scene early this year as a grown Avery in Ava’s dream, and she soon morphed into a hospital nurse Michael tried to date.
She also became Kiki’s friend when she testified about Dr. Bensch (James DePaiva) coercing her into having sex to keep her job. The show clearly likes this actress and wants to keep her on the canvas, but can they do it if she has no ties to anyone in town?
Well, if she becomes Nina’s long-lost, thought-dead daughter, that would be a way to do it.
So, here are our two contenders for Baby Girl Clay. It could be either one, or perhaps the honors can go to someone else we know. Time will tell…
