The good people of General Hospital very rarely know what’s good for them. Just look at the numbers of marriages – and divorces – in Port Charles! If only they listened to us, we’d make the best matches.
General Hospital: Give Us ScAva
For instance, fans have been bubbling for months about what an interesting couple Scotty (Kin Shriner) – sorry, we’ve been watching since 1980, we don’t care what he calls himself, he’ll always be Scotty to us – and Ava (Maura West) would make.
Minor Details
Sure, sure, there’s the ick factor of her at one point claiming to be the mother of Franco’s (Roger Howarth) child – which would have made Kiki (Hayley Erin) Scotty’s grandchild. But soaps are known for keeping it in the family. Sonny (Maurice Benard) has a child with both Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn), and Sam (Kelly Monaco), although the latter died. Which made the family tree easier to draw. Also, Kiki is dead. So, out of sight, out of mind, out of ick factor?
Selling Points
But there are many more reasons for why Scotty and Ava should be together than there are reasons for them not to be.
For one thing, they have obvious chemistry. Across two shows! (Before she migrated to Port Charles, West was the diva of As the World Turns, where Shriner popped up as the brother of the woman whom West’s husband married while he had amnesia. You know, typical soap stuff.)
For another, neither would be interested in taming or changing the other. Scotty isn’t nice, Ava isn’t nice. Wouldn’t it be nice if they weren’t nice together and kept from making two other perfectly nice people miserably, instead?
Cherry On the Sundae
Most important, it would likely upset Sonny. Sonny resents Scotty for his childish grudge about how Sonny got Scotty’s daughter hooked on drugs and stripping. He wouldn’t want Scotty around his and Ava’s daughter. Which is where the fun would really start. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
