They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but we wonder what good is a picture when you can’t recognize the subject? Above is a snapshot of a future star of soaps, but can you guess who this enthusiastic, multi-trophy recipient grew up to be?

Star Of The Soaps

Obviously, this young man (now all grown up) is either currently starring in, or is an alum of, one of the four remaining daytime dramas – The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless – but that’s probably not enough of a hint.

So try these on for size. He was born and raised in Canada. He was a track and field star during his high school years. He’s a soap hopper. And he had a small role in the film Born on the Fourth of July (1989).

But just who can be? Is this a photograph of Aaron D. Spears (Justin Barber, BB), James Black (ex-Luca, DAYS), Réal Andrews (Marcus Taggert, GH), or Keith Hamilton Cobb (ex-Damon Porter, YR)?

Aaron D. Spears

In addition to his recurring role on BB, Spears also appeared on Sunset Beach (ex-Officer Washington), DAYS (ex-Commissioner Raines), and GH (ex-Officer Watkins). He’s also an avid sportsman. However, he was born in Washington, D.C., and he did not appear in Born on the Fourth of July. So he isn’t today’s featured star.

James Black

And neither is Black. He began his acting career in 1991 when he appeared in A Triumph of the Heart: The Ricky Bell Story – a made-for-TV movie that aired two years after Born on the Fourth of July. And unlike today’s mystery actor, Black was born in Lima, Ohio.

Keith Hamilton Cobb

Though he did play Damon Porter on YR, Cobb is probably most recognized for the role he played on All My Children: big-hearted Noah Keefer. But like Black and Spears, Cobb isn’t a native Canadian, and he didn’t appear in Tom Cruise’s 12th motion picture.

Réal Andrews

A hamstring ended Andrews’s dreams of competing in the 1984 Olympics, but it spurred him into pursuing his second passion: acting. He appeared in several Canadian productions – including Street Legal, the Great White North’s answer to L.A. Law – before moving to the U.S. where he appeared on soaps including Santa Barbara, DAYS, AMC, As the World Turns, and GH.

So, if you guessed that the future star of soaps seen in the image above was Réal Andrews, credited in Born on the Fourth of July as “Vet #3,” then you were absolutely correct!
