Soap Hub reported back in April that Leslie Charleson suffered a leg injury one morning when her dog wanted to take on a faster walk than the actress was ready for.
Sill, some fans didn’t catch the news and have been asking us where the “real” Monica is, so we thought we’d give you this little reminder.
Apparently, General Hospital (GH) felt they couldn’t spare the character while Charleson recovered (despite Monica sadly not having a front burner story of her own) so Patty McCormack was quickly hired as a temporary replacement.
Fans have asked for the old Monica to return and that’s definitely the plan after Charleson fully recovers.
In fact, when McCormack started airing as Monica in early May, Charleson tweeted an update on her recovery.
“Thank you all so much for your continued well wishes,” she said. “I’m happy to say I’m on the mend and will be back in the saddle again soon!”
So, never fear, the Monica we’ve loved since 1977 will be in Port Charles again soon, but in the meantime we think McCormack is doing a stellar job in a difficult situation. After all, Leslie Charleson is synonymous with Monica Quartermaine and for good reason.
General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
