The General Hospital Nurses Ball usually takes place before the end of May and characters have already been talking about it on the show, but in light of the production shutdown due to the coronavirus crisis, this annual event is now up in the air.
General Hospital Ball On Delay?
Sources tell Soap Hub that the ball had already been written before the set went dark and that writers stopped writing other scripts in April (likely because they were so ahead), but it looks like those Nurses Ball scripts never got put to use — at least for now.
Will it be possible to address the pandemic briefly when the show returns and explain why the Nurses Ball had to be delayed? After all, in real-life we are to all avoid crowds and large events, especially in New York, where GH takes place. Being that this is a hospital show and the ball is in honor of the nurses (as well as raising awareness of HIV and AIDS), mentioning health issues makes sense.
However, the ball may also have to be canceled altogether this year if there are restrictions on how many people can be on a set at a time once soaps do go back into production. Large events that use the entire cast may not be possible.
The General Hospital Nurses Ball has been aired on and off since the 1990s and has been especially welcome in the last few years. It has always been run by Lucy Coe and most years, she ended up in her underwear by the end of the show. Sadly, that has not happened recently.
The big event is something GH fans look forward to every year as our favorites show off their musical skills and we learn just how talented Port Charles residents really are. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
