It’s been a long nine months without Laura Spencer Collins around as the voice of reason and assurance on General Hospital, but now actress Genie Francis is back where she belongs.
The beloved star returned to the GH set and her dressing room this morning and couldn’t wait to share the news with her legions of fans — AFTER she found quite a surprise, that is.
Awaiting Francis at her first day back at work were flowers and balloons, welcoming the actress to the set she’s called home off and on for more than 40 years.
In January, news broke that Francis had been released from her contract, but might be used on a recurring basis.
In one fell swoop, mayoral candidate Laura tore down her campaign posters and hopped a flight to Europe to care for her injured grandson, Spencer.
Fans were outraged for months but ultimately thrilled this summer when Francis tweeted a snap of her brand-new contract, telling us Laura is returning for the long haul.
She is also returning for quite a story as Laura’s new husband is secretly locked in Ferncliff while his evil twin (who had been presumed dead for 25 years) has taken his place.
The soap promised us a story for Laura, but we never expected this, so hold on for the ride.
General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
