Don’t be shocked if you don’t recognize TJ as his mother’s wedding approaches on General Hospital! There’s a good reason: The show has recast.
The role of TJ Ashford will now be played by daytime newcomer Tajh Bellow, who takes over the role from Tequan Richmond beginning today according to Soap Opera Digest.
Richmond, who created the role back in 2012, earning him three Daytime Emmy nominations, has left GH to focus on his role on the TV series, Boomerang on BET.
Bellow may be new to daytime but he’s got an impressive resume with a soap connection.
In 2008, one of his earliest roles was in the film The Man Who Came Back, with Eric Braeden from The Young and the Restless and Braeden’s Titanic co-star, Billy Zane. The movie also had another soap connection — his future GH co-star, James Patrick Stuart (Valentin).
From there, he appeared on s variety primetime shows, including The Middle, The First Family, Girl Meets World, a recurring role on Filthy Preppy Teen$, as well as the hit show, Bosch.
While TJ hasn’t been on much during the last couple of years, he’s involved in a relationship with Molly Davis (Haley Pullos) and has been trying to play peacemaker between his mom, Jordan (Briana Nicole Henry) and his beloved Aunt Stella (Vernee Watson). It should be interesting to see Bellow’s take on TJ and his relationships.
General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
