Wedding Block: Will Liz and Franco Ever Tie The Knot on General Hospital (GH)?

Weddings are the bread and butter of soaps, especially General Hospital (GH), which scored the highest rating ever for a daytime drama when Luke and Laura got married back in the 1980s.

Getting to the altar can be a bit of a problem, but once you’re there, and you’ve gotten through the “or forever hold your peace” bit, then it’s all smooth sailing! Or, at least, that’s how it’s supposed to work.

But Liz (Rebecca Herbst) and Franco (Roger Howarth) haven’t gotten that far yet. They keep meaning to get married and it keeps getting screwed up, one way or another.

Will these two crazy kids (emphasis on the crazy for at least one of them – then again, in the words of Obi-Wan Kenobi, “Who is the bigger fool, the fool, or he who follows/marries the fool/crazy?) ever make it legal?

We’ll Get There
It’ll happen eventually, 69% of you predict. Franco just needs to work through a few things first. His crazy childhood. His crazy adulthood. His tendency to lock people up in cages.

But you’re still certain that once Liz and Franco find Cam and Aiden and get the family together, including Liz’s mostly invisible parents and sister, they’ll be exchanging vows any minute now. Which is a good thing, right?

Fughedaboutit!
If it hasn’t happened by now, 30% of the audience looks into their crystal ball, it’s never going to happen. Clearly, he’s not that into you. Or she’s not that into you.

Either way, playing house is one thing, making a lifelong commitment is another. (Or even a soap-long version of a lifelong commitment, a.k.a. Till this contract runs out.)

And that’s not too horrible. Why should Liz settle for one killer, when she has another – Jason (Steve Burton), anyone? – waiting in the wings?
