Viewers had to blink their eyes a few times on Monday’s General Hospital (GH) when Patty McCormack was suddenly playing the role of Monica Quartermaine, a character played by Leslie Charleson for more than 40 years.
As Soap Hub reported last month, Charleson injured her leg one morning walking her dog and the injury was so severe she couldn’t work and had to be temporarily replaced for scenes that had already been written.
After McCormack began airing this week, Charleson tweeted a message to fans and it looks like we’ll be seeing her as Monica again sooner rather than later.
“Thank you all so much for your continued well wishes,” she said. “I’m happy to say I’m on the mend and will be back in the saddle again soon!”
Since the Nurses’ Ball was already taped and Charleson is still healing, we don’t expect to see her there, but in the meantime let’s give pinch hitter McCormack kudos for stepping into the role so seamlessly this week.
Soap Hub wishes Charleson a continued speedy recovery and we hope to see her on our screens again soon announcing the Q mansion is HER house.
General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
Thank you all so much for your continued well wishes. I’m happy to say I’m on the mend and will be back in the saddle again soon! XO
