General Hospital confirmed that Nathan is really his never-before-heard-of twin brother, Cassius. It’s a twist fans saw coming a mile away. However, just because we predicted it doesn’t mean it’s not a good twist.

Key Takeaways

  • It’s better than other ideas that could explain why Nathan isn’t Nathan.
  • Ryan Peavey makes Cassius likable and not just a pure villain.
  • The twist opens the door for so many storyline possibilities.

The Cassius Twist on GH

When Nathan (Ryan Peavey) suddenly showed up alive in Port Charles, we all knew something was amiss. Even after Anna (Finola Hughes) had his fingerprints and a DNA test run, proving he was Nathan, things still didn’t add up.

GH fans questioned whether he was really Nathan. However, as the clues stacked up, it became clear he was an imposter.

The reason the twin twist works is that the other alternatives are not really good. Nathan could have been Peter (Wes Ramsey) or Faison (Anders Hove) in a mask.

Let’s be honest, that would have been a waste of Paevey’s talent and not really kept him on the canvas very long. It has also been done so much, especially when it comes to Faison.

Yes, we know that the twin twist has happened a lot, too. Look at Jason (Steve Burton) and Drew (Cameron Mathison).

This time, though, it makes sense because it gives Paevey a reason to stick around. Playing Cassius also gives him a new character to sink his teeth into. After all, he is now playing a character playing a character, and he’s been doing amazing since the twist reveal.

GH fans knew something big would have to happen to draw Paevey back to the ABC soap. Finally, we know it was to play Cassius, and it is working for him.

In fact, one fan on X has admitted to liking Paevey playing Cassius better than Nathan, writing, “I really like Ryan playing Cassius instead of Nathan. Cassius has a lot more range as a character than Nathan.”

Having Cassius in the mix now adds so many layers to this storyline. Along with the new sibling dynamic of Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) and Cassius, the latter is up to his neck in the trouble Sidwell (Carlo Rotta) and Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) are causing in Port Charles.

Cassius is playing a pivotal role in bringing Faison’s final project to life. He also brought Britt into the mix.

Aside from that aspect, Cassius has real feelings for Lulu (Alexa Havins), is protecting Rocco (Finn Carr), and has developed a close bond with James (Gary James Fuller). The more time Cassius spends impersonating Nathan, the more he risks losing those who have become important to him.

It may have been done before, but Cassius being Nathan’s twin still works, and we are excited to see where the story leads.
