The people of Port Charles can breathe a sigh of relief on General Hospital. They’re about to be safe once again. Not only is serial-killing DA Paul behind bars, but the worst commish the soap has ever seen is out of a job–and it couldn’t come soon enough.
While we wish she were fired, Jordan (Vinessa Antoine) resigning is the next best thing. How this woman got her job is beyond us to begin with. She went from being in the mob to announcing she was undercover DEA to becoming the PCPD police commissioner in a matter of one episode. Come again? That was after she covered up the fact that Ava (Maura West) is the one who mowed down Jason (Billy Miller), causing him to become Jake Doe.
Since taking over the job, she let arms dealers through town, immediately jumped to the conclusion that Jason killed Nikolas (Tyler Christopher), refused to listen to Hayden (Rebecca Budig) when she wanted to tell her Nikolas had her shot in the head, nearly got Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) killed during a botched wire surveillance attempt, let Carlos (Jeffrey Vincent Parise) roam free after a police transport van crashed, and just couldn’t figure out that the DA was a serial-killing loon. Good going, Jordan!
Along the way, she thumbed her nose at anyone she deemed beneath her, including former brother-in-law Curtis (Donnell Turner) who should be on the force rather than her. She refused to help Anna (Finola Hughes) gather necessary evidence against Julian just because she thought Anna was trying to steal her man.
She covered up the fact that Shawn (Sean Blakemore) was her son’s father, and not Thomas Ashford like TJ (Tequan Richmond) originally believed. The list goes on for this woman who can’t solve a crime, but thinks she’s above everyone else who roams Port Charles.
Resigning is the best thing she can do for everyone’s sake. Maybe swallowing a bit of humble pie will make Jordan a more likable character rather than one we want to throw a shoe at. After all, a talented actress like Vinessa Antoine deserves more.
