Actor Dominic Zamprogna is back at work on the General Hospital set and we got our first glimpse of him on Monday. This means Dante Falconeri will soon be resurfacing in Port Charles. The character left town in March 2019, after exhibiting PTSD symptoms and fearing he’d been brainwashed, and has been receiving treatment at a WSB facility.
In the interim, he served his wife, Lulu (Emme Rylan), with divorce papers, and she moved on with Dustin (Mark Lawson). But Dante’s return is sure to throw a wrench in that budding relationship as well as stir things up for his whole family. Here are three scenarios that could bring him back onto the canvas.
Dante is released from his treatment facility and returns to town. He’s partly the same guy viewers knew and loved, but with an edgier, grittier side. After all he’s seen and endured, he’s no longer a conformist, who plays strictly by the rules. He immediately gets involved in the plot to take down Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) and resorts to whatever means possible to do so.
Viewers might even learn that Cyrus had a hand in Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) son’s absence and brainwashing, explaining why Dante’s so intent to see him back behind bars.
With Dante’s psychiatric condition showing no signs of improvement after over a year in treatment, Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) petitions for her son to be removed from the WSB clinic. She learns about a new protocol being developed at General Hospital that could address Dante’s condition.
Kevin (Jon Lindstrom) and Finn (Michael Easton) would be at the helm of it, and Olivia could beg them to treat her son. Although Kevin is initially reluctant, knowing the gravity of Dante’s brainwashing, Laura (Genie Francis) convinces her husband to accept Dante into the clinical trial, after her pal, Sonny (Maurice Benard), asks her to intervene. Meanwhile, Anna (Finola Hughes), who’s desperate to help Olivia, pushes Finn to get involved.
GH could resort to an old tried-and-true twist — have someone in Dante’s family take seriously ill or suddenly be involved in an accident that leaves them clinging to life. It could be his mother, Olivia, father, Sonny, or perhaps his and Lulu’s only son, Rocco.
The crisis could bring Dante home, fearing it might be his only chance to see his loved one again. Dante not being fully healed, mentally, would rev up the drama, since he’d be a loose cannon and no one would ever know when or how he might act out. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC.
