When Carly and Sonny suddenly seemed to inherit a kitchen we had never seen before on General Hospital, it wasn’t hard to miss a moss bowl sitting prominently on their kitchen island.
Carly, Sonny, And The Moss
Eagle-eyed fans also remembered moss was a feature on Jason (Steve Burton) and Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) penthouse coffee table and soon moss even showed up at Jax’s house, right in front of Nikolas (Marcus Coloma), who had moved himself in.
Still, the moss in the Corinthos home is the most talked about and Executive Producer Frank Valentini explained how the moss has practically become a General Hospital character.
“When it first showed up, I was like, ‘What is this? It looks like moss or a bad salad.'” Valentini told an audience of fans at the GH event at Graceland last weekend. He added that his production designer told him it was an in thing, so he let it go.
Then something expected but unexpected happened. The moss started to grow and seemingly out of control. That’s when Valentini decided it needed to be trimmed. So, now we know why the moss always looks great and “chic” as the production designer called it.
We guess Carly (Laura Wright) is quite the contemporary decorator to choose moss for her kitchen. Or perhaps Sam gave her the idea since the moss started out at her house and then migrated. Hmmm…
See what Valentini has to say about this centerpiece in the tweeted video below. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
