Daytime Emmy-winner Chad Brannon is on his way back to General Hospital. The actor played both Zander, Cameron’s dad, and a look-alike in a one-appearance deal on the ABC soap opera.
Chad Brannon Back In PC
EW reports that Brannon will start taping again on Friday, February 12. Veteran GH fans recall that Zander is the biological dad of Cameron Webber (William Lipton). Brannon had a four-year stint in Port Charles during which time he was involved with the show’s then-teen set.
The character attempted many times to get his life back on track but ended up succumbing to his demons. He was shot by the police after pretending to reach for a weapon, forcing their hand.
The actor returned to the show in 2009 for a one-episode stint when Rebecca Shaw (Natalia Livingston) exited the canvas. Rebecca was the twin of Zander’s late love Emily Quartermaine. While both Emily and Zander were deceased, her twin and his doppelganger (Aaron) flew off into the sunset together.
No word yet on if Brannon will be reprising Zander as some sort of apparition or as Aaron or someone else. The show has had characters come back as a ghost or spirits in the past.
Brad Maule reprised Tony Jones for a talk with son Lucas, then Ryan Carnes, now Matt Trudeau, when Lucas was going through some angst. More recently, Ian Buchanan returned as Duke and Megan Ward reprised Kate when Julian (William deVry) was having fantasies shortly before his death.
Brannon was nominated for the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Young Actor in a Drama Series in 2003. He won in that category the following year. Since leaving GH, he has worked regularly, voicing characters on The Cleveland Show and American Dad. He also guested on the critically acclaimed Friday Night Lights.
In The Tragedy of JFK (as told by Wm. Shakespeare), Brannon portrayed the late President’s brother, Robert F. Kennedy. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check local listings for airtimes.
