General Hospital couldn’t make it any more clear that they are testing out Sam and Dante as a couple and although it seemed a little odd at first, the more we see, the more we like it.
A General Hospital Couple In The Making
When Lulu (Emme Rylan) was written off the show, we felt the logical step would be for Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) to fall for Maxie (after she figures out she’s pegged Peter very, very wrong) just in time for Lulu to emerge from her coma and return to town. That would produce a very soapy story in which a formerly comatose woman learns her best friend is now with her husband (or ex-husband, as the case may be).
And then there’s Sam (Kelly Monaco). When Steve Burton first returned to the show as Jason, Sam realized the mob-free life she was living was not actually with Jason but his twin brother, Drew. Sam had already gotten a taste of the mob-free life with Patrick (Jason Thompson) and liked the woman she had become, but there was her Jason, and Soap Hub was ready for it. Then, we realized what Sam recently figured out. She’s grown and changed and Jason never will.
While we’d love to see Billy Miller return as Drew and for Sam to realize what she gave up, that does not seem to be the plan. So, we decided to keep an open mind when it comes to Sam and Dante, and so far, we like what we see. Sam seems like she can be herself without the hassle of worrying if she or her kids will be killed at any moment, while Dante has actually been cracking some smiles — something we haven’t seen from him since he left on that WSB assignment nearly three years ago.
There is something to explore there and sometimes there’s nothing better than a show taking two longtime and beloved characters and seeing what happens when you put them together. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
