That’s a Wrap: Should Oscar’s Story Have Ended Sooner On General Hospital?

The General Hospital boy who refuses to die is still hanging on. He’s terminal, he has a brain tumor, he’s been sent home from the hospital to die… and yet there he still is, playing guitar and singing songs!

Kim (Tamra Braun) is sobbing. Joss (Eden McCoy) is sobbing. Carly (Laura Wright) is… also there. Pus, Drew (Billy Miller) is keeping a manly, stiff upper lip. But Oscar (Garren Stitt) is still hanging on.

Look, nobody roots for a teenage boy to die. Especially those of us who have teenagers ourselves. This story is very, very sad. It’s also very, very long. Should it have been wrapped up by now? What over 8,000 fans had to say:

Oh, my God, 66% of you can’t wait to exhale. It’s the original never-ending story! (Without the cool, flying dragon.) How long has this been going on, and how many times are we going to be forced to watch the same scenes over and over again?

Either have Monica (Leslie Charleson) find her quasi-grandson a miracle cure or let’s just end this.

You feel bad for Kim and Drew, but it’s hard to take this great love of Oscar and Joss seriously. This isn’t Ryan O’Neal and Ali McGraw in Love Story. This isn’t even a John Green novel. It’s not jerking your tears. It’s getting on your nerves.

On the other hand, 34% of the audience hope this story never ends. You don’t want Joss to lose Oscar, and you don’t want Kim and Drew to lose their only son.

Soaps are supposed to make viewers cry, and this storyline is definitely doing it. Besides, Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Jason (Steve Burton) haven’t had a chance to save the day yet. Oscar can’t die before they’ve played the hero. It would be un-Port Charles-like!
