Surprises And Snubs For General Hospital With The Daytime Emmy Pre-Nominations

While it’s hard to always know which performer was actually snubbed for a Daytime Emmy Award nomination because some just don’t submit their names, there are some people we expected to see on the list for General Hospital (GH) that just aren’t there.

Jane Elliott always gives a tour-de-force performance and her last scenes as Tracy were some of her best ever. She may very well have not submitted, but we still would have liked to see her in contention.

While Jessica Tuck was only on for a few short months, it was enough to leave an impression on us as Cassandra Pierce, the deranged hypochondriac drug dealer with seemingly no soul.

And, of course, there are surprise performers on the list for GH, who are deserving but don’t typically get recognition. That’s why it was so nice to see both Wally Kurth and Lisa LoCicero get pre-nominations this year.

We can see one actor was strategic and it got both Jasons pre-nominations. Steve Burton, who only appeared on the soap for half a year and some of that time wore a mask and didn’t speak, submitted and earned a nod in the Supporting Actor category.

He’ll compete against co-stars Chad Duell, Kurth, Anthony Montgomery, and James Patrick Stuart.

Meanwhile, Billy Miller, whose Jason and then Drew do an awful lot of talking and was front burner all 12 months, earned a nod in the Lead Actor Category. He’ll compete against co-star Michael Easton.

The Lead Actress pre-nominees also have a crop of deserving GH stars. Kelly Monaco, who is often way underrated, earned a nom. She’ll compete against co-stars Nancy Lee Grahn, Maura West, and Laura Wright.

Little Hudson West who wowed us as Jake Webber, especially when he learned the man he thought was his father wasn’t, earned his first nod, and goes up against Garren Stitt (Oscar) in the Younger Actor Category.
