General Hospital fans and the soap world at large were stunned this week to learn that Steve Burton would be returning to General Hospital after leaving The Young and the Restless earlier this year.
With Burton starting his own nutrition company, and having a share in a Tennessee restaurant near his home there, many assumed he’d take a much longer break from acting.
But, after winning a Daytime Emmy in April, it seems that isn’t so and he’s heading back to Port Charles, giving the soap one too many Jasons–IF Billy Miller stays–and also if Burton will be playing Jason.
In a Facebook Live event Thursday night, Burton only gave some vague hints on his new or old character.
“I can’t say anything about the story,” he said. “There’s going to be a lot of surprises, so stay tuned.”
The rumors on “Soap Twitter” is that this comeback is long-term, which is different from some of the one-off guest shots with other former ABC stars we’ve seen this year.
So, how did this comeback come about? Well, ABC contacted his agent, and one thing led to another…
“They got to talking, and next thing I knew, I’m going back,” Burton marveled. “I can’t wait. It’s been my home for so long. It’s like my family there. We’re just really looking forward to reuniting.”
