One would think the first thing Jason would do is fight for Sam upon returning to Port Charles, but that doesn’t seem to be happening on General Hospital (GH).
After all, when he left her that night in 2012, he waved goodbye to her and Danny promising to be home soon so they could start their life together. But, he found her married with two children, thinking she’s married to him, and he’s been anything but in fighter mode ever since.
And, it just might stay that way, according to Steve Burton. While the actor has signed a three-year contract with the show and Jason will be hanging around for the foreseeable future, Sam’s future just might be with his twin brother, Drew.
“Jason’s priority is Sam’s happiness,” Burton said in an #AskGH Tweetfest Tuesday. “So, whatever she chooses, Jason will deal with.”
Right now it looks like Sam (Kelly Monaco) has chosen Drew (Billy Miller) and Jason is indeed dealing, throwing himself into learning why he was held captive for five years to shield his emotions from the pain of losing Sam while he was gone.
However, Burton admitted he doesn’t yet know all the story coming up, so maybe Sam will change her mind and Jason will be there waiting.
“I’m excited to see what happens myself because I do not know,” he tweeted.
One thing he knows is that GH seems to be sweeter the second time around, as he expressed his gratitude for being back at the show, saying being away made him grow and appreciate things more.
We know we certainly appreciate that he’s back, as nothing has been dull in Port Charles since Burton made his return.
General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.

For me personally, My perspective on life, knowing what a blessing it is and being grateful to wake up every day and have the opportunity.. not that I wasn’t always grateful.. but being away gave me a chance to work on myself and grow as a person. So coming back is 2x as sweet. https://t.co/PnZR7GuVxM
