GH spoilers tease that Robert Scorpio is about to learn that his ex-wife, Holly Sutton, is still alive when she turns up in Port Charles. And where Holly goes, how long until Ethan Lovett follows? The last time the two were together in the same place, viewers learned that Ethan was the son Holly had given up for adoption — and that his father was Luke Spencer.
Boy, was everyone surprised! Especially since it made absolutely no sense. Which is why Holly’s return is the perfect time to fix that retcon of a story by bringing Robert not only face to face with his presumed dead ex…but also with their son.
Whether you believe that Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) or Holly (Emma Samms) is the true love of Robert’s (Tristan Rogers) life, there is no denying that at the time of her (first) presumed death, Holly was madly in love with Robert. Her fling with Luke (Anthony Geary) was years in the past, and, at the time, Luke was also madly in love with his no-longer presumed-dead wife, Laura (Genie Francis).
There is no way that, some 30-odd years ago, Luke and Holly would have randomly run into each other, and Luke would have not only kept the fact that his wife was alive from his best friend, but slept with her, then went on his merry way, back to Laura and Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson). So, obviously, both Holly and Luke lied about that.
Why would they lie? Because the truth is Holly’s con artist family took Ethan (who was, in fact, Robert’s) from her while she was in her presumed-dead coma. When Holly woke up, she wanted to go straight to Robert so they could go find their son. But she found him married to Anna, both of them raising Robin Scorpio (Kimberly McCullough) together. Holly didn’t want to destroy the family Robert already had for the one they might have. So she kept quiet.
Then, when Ethan popped up, Holly couldn’t bear to tell Robert that she’d kept his son from him, thinking he’d hate her more than he would if she lied and said Ethan wasn’t his.
And why did Luke go along with Holly’s lie? Because he cared about her, and he cared about Robert, and he didn’t want to hurt his friend that way. So Luke followed Holly’s lead and claimed Ethan. Also, Luke enjoys schemes. So why not scheme with Holly?
But now Luke is gone, seemingly permanently. And Robert is still around. Holly is back. She wouldn’t want to really die before telling Robert the truth, would she? So tell him the truth, Holly. And, GH, make it so! Thinks this speculation could really come true? Should it? Let us know in the comments section below.
